A lot happened this past year! I did my first craft show, gave birth to a human baby (and almost didn’t make it to the hospital!), and created lots and lots of stuff. Here are some of the things I’m most proud of, in no particular order.
Finally finishing the periodic table of elements.
And then going back and fixing the mistakes I made!
This was the biggest project I’ve ever done and the one I’ve worked on the longest, it was several years of work. I am so proud of how it turned out, and I was lucky enough to have it featured on Mr. X Stitch!
My space themed flash cards
These started out as an entry for a contest over at &stitches, and evolved into so much more! I planned on just doing an E and M for Evie and Mira, and then the next thing I knew I had four completed pieces and plans to finish the entire alphabet! I have been so amazed at the feedback and support I’ve gotten on this project, and I can’t wait to dive back into making more!
My cross stitch iPhone case
This is another one that has gotten a lot of positive feedback that I’m really proud of. I have a hard time committing to projects like this, because I worry I will ruin it or waste a cool case on something dumb. But I dove into it and love the results. Though I’m not using the case right now, it started to get dirty so I swapped it out until I can get it sealed with something. Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe a Scotch-Guard?
Launching the line of cross stitch kits
A lot of planning and designing and work went into these kits, and I am so happy with how they turned out! It’s so different working on the small scale pendants, but it is such a fun challenge. Jennifer created such unique pendants and I really enjoyed created cross stitches to compliment the designs.
Evie’s Mo Willem’s Pigeon themed birthday party
When Evie requested a Mo Willem’s pigeon party for her 3rd birthday, I was excited for the challenge, though I was certain she would change her mind and want a different party. But she stuck with the theme and I had such a great time creating all the details for the party, and Evie was so surprised when she saw everything I had made. I definitely look forward to crafting for Mira’s first birthday in May, and for Evie’s 4th birthday! I hope Evie’s party request next year is as unique and fun!
Participating in three craft swaps
I’ve always wanted to participate in a craft swap but it just never happened. But in 2013 the stars aligned and I managed to do three of them! The first was a science theme which couldn’t have been a more perfect theme for me! I created a solar system cross stitch and received the most amazing Tesla embroidery in return. Then I signed up for the “five” themed swap with absolutely no ideas for what to do, but I was so thrilled with the set of five birds that I created. The third swap piece is currently en route to my partner, but I will show that off as soon as I get word that it’s arrived!
My Bloggess cross stitches
I’ve met the Bloggess twice for book signings and each time I gave her a cross stitch. I also created another one based on a story she told at the signing. These got attention from the Bloggess herself, but also from Mr. Neil Gaiman! It was so exciting to see all the feedback on the free patterns and to get attention from two people I greatly admire.
Experimenting more with different media and techniques
In 2013 I tried out cross stitching on watercolor paper, cardboard, office supplies, and tried out waste canvas. I definitely want to explore this more in 2014, I love the possibilities of stitching materials.
Starting Free Pattern Friday and keeping up with it
I love the monthly free pattern series I’ve started and I’m really pleased with myself for posting a new pattern every month since I started it. I plan on continuing this in 2014 and seeing where this feature goes!
I think my biggest accomplishment this year has been adjusting to being a mom of two while also balancing the blog and creating new work. I have so much I want to do in the next year, and I’m so glad to have all of you along for the ride! Is there anything new you’d love to read about or anything new I should do?

Thanks for linking this up to my Best of 2013 link-up! I love to cross stitch but haven’t in ages! I will definitely need to get back into it (hopefully this year), and I now know where to go for some really cool patterns! 🙂
