I mentioned that I redesigned the Boulder MQG website. We are working on a lot of big things this year, the biggest being the Block of the Month.
Laura L. is the new vice president for 2018 and she put in a ton of work writing up tutorials for all the blocks and making an amazing quilt. Since the Block of the Month is free, we are working hard to promote it and get as many people participating as we can, even if they aren’t in the guild. We’ve had people from all over making blocks and I’m so excited to see so much involvement.
I decided to make mine from solids, which isn’t my usual choice for quilts. I also neglected my usual “MAKE A RAINBOW WITH ALL THE COLORS” instinct and picked a smaller color palette.
It feels like the February block is too intense, but I also know that it’s hard to gauge with just the two blocks. I’m going to wait and see how I feel about it once there’s more blocks, I’m sure it will balance out.
We’d love to have you join in on the BOM! The blocks are all fun for more advanced quilters, but also accessible enough for beginners. If you make a block, make sure to tag it #bouldermqgbom18
