Dumpling Pouch Swap!

Rainbow Hexagon Pouch from Hugs are Fun
Susi from Lila Luise organized a swap on Instagram to make a dumpling pouch and fill it with fabric and candy. I signed up even though I seriously doubted my ability to make the pouch, but Susi insisted that I would be fine. The pattern for the dumpling pouch is free to download.

This is actually my first completed English paper piecing project and I love it. I used 3/4″ hexagons and joined them all into a piece of fabric large enough to cover the interfacing. I fused the interfacing to it and cut around it, which was the most nerve wracking part! I was convinced I would cut it wrong and ruin the whole thing, but thankfully it worked out.

My mother-in-law helped me sew on the zipper, again I doubted my abilities. I really want to take a sewing class to get more comfortable using my machine, I have so many projects I want to do. After several mishaps where the zipper was put in backwards, it was finally finished.

I sent it off to Alex from Sew-Berry-Cute and she got it yesterday. I used my Fiskars hexagon punch to make her a bunch of hexagon templates she could use to make her own English paper pieced project.

I was very tempted to keep it for myself but I did the right thing and sent it off to Alex. I am going to be making another one very soon though!
My pouch hasn’t come yet but I keep anxiously checking the mail!

That would be fantastic Kim! I am thinking of taking a class at Joann’s, they have a basic sewing class. I think it would help me to really learn the different settings.

This little purse turned out so lovely. I love the colours you used, Yet another thing to add to my ridiculously long “must try” list. You are good sending it off, but as one is on it’s way to you it’s not too painful!
