Stephanie from Swoodson Says has super adorable softie toy patterns. When she started organizing a blog tour, it wasn’t hard to decide which one I wanted to sew up.
I’ve always loved the camera pattern, it’s such a cute idea. Because I love anything rainbow and anything patchwork, I decided I needed to do that for the front. I love doing patchwork with strips of fabric because there are no seams to match up and so it goes really quickly.
Because I did the patchwork, the entire front of the camera was made entirely from my scrap bin. I used a bigger piece of fabric for the back and strap, but everything else was pieced together with little scraps I had laying around.
Stephanie has the Little Photographer’s Camera* listed as intermediate and I would agree with that. I didn’t have trouble following the pattern at all, it’s super well written, but there were a few areas that were slightly tricky and just a bit beyond my skill level. I didn’t do the greatest job with attaching the bias tape to the vinyl for the picture window, but I’m still really pleased with how it turned out.
I made this camera for Mira and have hidden it away so I can give it to her for Christmas. But in modeling for the photos for me, Evie fell in love with it and is requesting her own. I have something else I was planning on making her for Christmas but it looks like another camera is getting added to the list!
