Chrissy from Muse of the Morning is doing a week of Big Messy Art and it seemed like a really fun idea! Summer is the perfect time to get messy with crafts because you can head outside and when you're done, just hose off. We had a mud painting playdate with Evie's best friend. We went over to her house with a bucket, a bag of soil, and a bunch of different homemade paintbrushes. I made one with yarn, one with pipe cleaners, one with a giant pom pom, and two different ones with foam. I bought a bag of potting soil from Dollar Tree, you could easily use dirt in your ... Review – Craft-a-Day
Quirk Books is a publishing company that prides themselves on giving more unique books a chance. (They have a book on crafting with cat hair!) I loved their book Pom-Poms! 25 Awesomely Fluffy Projects so I was excited to get the opportunity to review another title, Craft-a-Day: 365 Simple Handmade Projects by Sarah Goldschadt. This book features 365 different projects, each small enough that you could easily make it in a day. Each week is given a theme and there are a series of crafts in that theme. I love this because it makes this the perfect book to do with ... Read More

Toddler Activities – Turkey Puppet
I'm doing another craft exchange and everyone seemed to be doing fall themed crafts this time so I came up with this guy. Totoro Hoop!
I had so much fun making the Pigeon hoop that I wanted to make another! It's my first time participating in the Illustration Stitch A Long. For Pigeon the embroidery is only to attach the felt, but for this Totoro hoop I used it to add some additional detail for the mouth and whiskers. I really love doing these hoops and want to keep experimenting with using more embroidery details. ... Read More
Don’t Let the Pigeon in the Embroidery Hoop!
Evie loves the Pigeon books by Mo Willems. I have been a huge Mo Willems fan for a long time, I loved The Off-Beats on KaBlam! In my book illustration class in college I did an illustrator presentation on him, so I was really excited that Evie likes his books so much. ... Read More
What I Got in the Swap
I never showed off what I got for the Phat Quarter swap from Madeleine of Unexpected Kitty. I finally hung it up last week. My piece came all the way from the UK, and I was so excited when I opened the envelope and saw the Tesla Tower! The embroidery is fantastic and I love the beading on it too. You can check out Madeleine's Flickr. And here is her blog post about it. ... Read More
