We are currently working on potty training. I wasn't in a rush because it all seemed like such a hassle, especially when I was pregnant, and then once Mira was born I couldn't imagine dealing with it then either. But Evie decided she wasn't waiting for me, and started taking off her diaper and demanding to use the potty. The kid knows what she wants... ... Read More
Resurrecting a Project – Evie’s Blanket
As I mentioned before, I'm not great at finishing crochet projects. I started and abandoned three or four baby blankets while I was pregnant with Evie. So when I was pregnant with Mira, I wanted to start a blanket for her, but felt I should make one for Evie first. I picked out this pattern and plowed through it pretty quickly. But when I laid it out, I wanted it to be a lot bigger. When I realized I needed at least twice as many as I had already made, I was so discouraged that I had to put it away. Fast forward to months after Mira's born and I finally decided ... Read More
Toddler Activities – Frog Puppet
The other week we checked out the Thursday morning story time and craft at Culture Stock in downtown Aurora. It's a used bookstore run entirely through volunteers and donations. They have a ton of events in the store. I've been to their Saturday morning stitching group, but this was my first kid event there. The books were all frog themed and then there was a project to make a paper bag puppet. ... Read More
NATO Alphabet Cross Stitch
Eventually I plan to show off Evie’s entire room, but today is not that day. Instead I’m just going to show off the NATO phonetic alphabet cross stitch I made for her. It seems like an important life skill for a toddler to know this. ... Read More
Old Projects – Crochet Totoro
I don't have a good track record for finishing crochet or knitting projects. So when I finish something it's a big deal for me. Especially if it's something I really like. When I was pregnant with Evie I made her this crochet Totoro toy. She's recently fallen in love with the movie, so she's really excited about this guy lately. ... Read More
Busy Bag Exchange #2
We did another busy bag exchange, so I figured I'd share my project. I could not decide what to make this time, I was extremely indecisive. The exchange was on a Monday, the Saturday before I finally settled on this magnetic fishing game. ... Read More
MrSogs
The past two years we've gone to the Christmas Renegade Craft Fair. The first year there was a vendor selling awesome plushes and we got Evie one. I had long since forgotten who the vendor was, so imagine my surprise when I saw plushes and kits being sold on Fab a few weeks ago. The shop's name is MrSogs and they have an Etsy store where you can buy the completed plushes at the kits too. I bought a kit and I eagerly added it to my extensive list of crafts I want to complete. ... Read More
My first busy bag exchange
I have a huge to do list of the things I hope to accomplish before the new baby gets here. One of the big ones is that I've wanted to make busy bags for Evie. Things that are simple enough that she can keep herself entertained if I have my hands full and can't get to her right away. I had some ideas stashed away on Pinterest, but hadn't gotten around to any of them. Then I got invited to participate in a toddler busy bag swap. It was perfect. I'd get 10 activities, and I'd only have to come up with one project. I liked the ideas on this blog, and decided to do ... Read More
