I have two new patterns in the shop! This vintage camera cross stitch was a Christmas gift for my sister-in-law, she's in school for photography. I love the look of vintage cameras and I had a hard time choosing which one to stitch, but I love the shade of blue of the Diana. Buy the vintage camera pattern here. I've also added two new bird patterns to the collection. This one is a red winged blackbird. Buy the redwing blackbird pattern here. I made this barn swallow cross stitch for my mother-in-law for Christmas, I really loved the colors of this ... Read More
Handmade Christmas – Laser Cut Cross Stitch Edition
I decided to just lump all of the laser cut cross stitches I did into one post since I still have quite a few gifts to show off still! First up we have this color wheel necklace. I made this for my friend Brooke, she's an art teacher and I thought she would appreciate it. I absolutely love how it turned out and I want to make one for myself. In the kits the pendant has two holes, but this is a prototype one hole version. I love the design with the two holes, but I really like how it looks hanging at this orientation. Next is a small pendant I made for my ... Read More
Handmade Christmas – Hexagon Hoop Art
Next up in my handmade Christmas gifts, this embroidered hexagon hoop. I stole this idea was inspired by Mollie at Wild Olive. I had such a fun time making this, it was a chance to experiment with different stitching and different Kreinik metallic threads. I have a variety of orange and yellow fabrics that I used for Evie's first birthday party so I decided to use all the different shades. For the accent stitching I kept with warm colors. Each hexagon has a different type of stitching, I didn't repeat any. And look at how pretty and shiny that Kreinik metallic ... Read More
Handmade Christmas – Purplework Name
Here's the next in the series of Christmas gifts I made and one that I'm really happy with the result of. I made this during the &Stitches colorwork challenge and I absolutely loved working on it. I have always worked on 14ct. Aida, and this was my first foray into using 18ct. I used a slightly darker purple for the outline and then a lighter shade for the actual blackwork. I was torn between using different patterns or keeping the same one. I wanted to experiment and use different patterns, but I worried it wouldn't work because of the letters being joined on the ... Try it Tuesday – Sharpie Mug
I mentioned that this year I put Evie to work making Christmas gifts. One of the things she made was a Sharpie mug, which I've seen floating around Pinterest for months now. There are so many different tutorials, but they are all pretty standard, here's a good one from Somewhat Simple. A Beautiful Mess has a cute version too. This was actually a recent Try it Tuesday project over at Trends with Benefits, the Try it Tuesday pioneers! We went to Michael's and she picked out pink, purple, and blue Sharpies for this mug for her grandpa. They aren't the most manly ... Read More
Handmade Christmas – Embroidered Arrow
I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas. Now that I've given all my gifts, I can finally start showing these off! I started making Christmas gifts back in November, so it's been a long time for me to keep these secret! I also had Evie making presents, so I'll show those off too! First up is this embroidered arrow I made. I haven't done all that much embroidery, but I am really interested in doing more. This was for Josh's aunt and uncle, his uncle has really gotten into archery over the past few years. I love how the arrow turned out, especially the fletching. I ... Read More
