I wrote up a tutorial for Sew Mama Sew on how to make a reverse appliqué tote and I am so excited about it. I've had this idea for awhile and I am really happy with how they turned out. April Marie Photography took the pictures for me. So make sure you stop by Sew Mama Sew to get the tutorial and make your own! ... Read More
Paper Pieced Monogram Mini Quilts
A few years ago I went through a big monogram phase. It's been awhile since I've made any, but when I saw the Geometric Uppercase Alphabet Pattern (affiliate link) from Quiet Play, I had to grab it. Evie's favorite colors are pink and purple so they were a natural choice. I made these entirely with pieces from my scrap bin. The pattern is really easy and quick and I love how it turned out. Mira's favorite color is blue, but I did throw in some aqua too. Diagonal straight line quilting is my favorite. I mark the first line right down the middle ... Read More
M Button Monogram
Mira's birthday is quickly approaching (in a week I'll have a one year old!) and I realized I had a project I did months ago but never shared. I had made Evie a button monogram, so I thought it was only fair for Mira to get one too. It's been too long since I've done a monogram project, they've been replaced with hexagons. I'm going to have to remedy that soon! I have a huge jar of buttons left over from when I made Evie's monogram. I used tweezers from the start this time and didn't burn myself as much with the hot glue which is definitely a positive thing! ... Read More
Jimbot’s Robot Letters
When I was pregnant with Evie we went to the Urban Garage Sale in Milwaukee. It was a really great show in the beautiful Turner Hall building, and I'm hoping to be able to make it to the one coming up in November. I bought this print of a robot E for her room and when I got pregnant with Mira I wanted to find one for her. Every couple months I would search around Etsy but never found the right seller. One night I got really determined and started Googling around. I eventually came across a vendor list from the July 2010 show on a message board and the name "Jimbot" ... Read More
Felt Embroidery Hoop Monogram
I have a thing for making and buying things with the letter E for Evie's room. There's one here and here and here. So now that Mira's here, I've got to start going on the letter M! ... Read More
Mira Element Completed!
I shared the pattern, but I never showed off the finished piece. I really like how the pink turned out, i think it compliments the Evie Element. I haven't framed this yet because I'm a slacker, but it's been done for months and I figured I should just show it off unframed. ... Read More
Don’t Let the Pigeon in the Embroidery Hoop!
Evie loves the Pigeon books by Mo Willems. I have been a huge Mo Willems fan for a long time, I loved The Off-Beats on KaBlam! In my book illustration class in college I did an illustrator presentation on him, so I was really excited that Evie likes his books so much. ... Read More
Mira’s Cross Stitch
Since I made an Evie element cross stitch, I figured I should get started on one for Mira. Josh made me the pattern and Mira and I took a trip and bought thread. Now to decide on a color... ... Read More
