Wild Olive Spring Stitching Club

This winter has been brutal here in Illinois, it’s been so cold and there’s been so much snow. I am definitely ready for spring, and the Wild Olive Spring Stitching Club is a good thing to keep me busy until it shows up!

I’m still behind on the Winter Stitching Club, I’ve stitched most of the designs but have only assembled one hexagon.

I copied the same fabrics that Mollie used and I am in love with them. They are so bright and pretty, I working with them makes me so happy! The hexagons are bigger than I’m used to working with, but I like them a lot.

I think it would be fun to make a smaller project, it would go so fast with the bigger hexagons. Maybe a table runner or a pillow? Any suggestions?

You should all head over and sign up for the Wild Olive Spring Stitching Club and join in!
It doesn’t start until March 3, and if you sign up before then, it’s only $5. So what are you waiting for?

I’ve been so hexie obsessed it was easy to get started! But it’s harder to want to work on winter themed things, I want the brightness of spring!

Lovely fabrics!!! I’ve already chosen my fabrics for the SSC but want to add some of that super cute floral print to my stash if I can find it. Didn’t see it at my local Joann and can’t find it on-line, just left Mollie a comment with inquiry.
Yes, these bigger hexies will for sure make for a substantial and quicker project! I was thinking on making a EPP project bag made with hexies of course, but don’t know when I’ll be able to tackle that.
My WSC is coming along, making them into hexie flowers. Just need to finish stitching the fawn and the quilt. Can’t wait for the Spring Stitching Club to start!!!

Visiting you from the Blogging Collective. πŸ™‚

I am a cross-stitcher at heart, but I am determined to do a quilt one of these days. I am gathering the pieces now. I’m nervous about it, but I am excited, too. πŸ™‚ Wish me luck! Might take a few years, but I will get it done!

As to your question, I think those hexagons would be adorable as a pillow!

I am terrified to make a quilt on the sewing machine, I don’t know why. So I keep starting more and more hand sewn pieces. I can’t wait to see what you end up doing!

Me, too! I plan on doing it by hand. Am I nuts? LOL πŸ™‚ Sewing machines terrify me, period, so I don’t use them. I know the quilt will take a lot longer, but I’m ok with that. πŸ™‚ At least I won’t get eaten by the sewing machine! LOL πŸ™‚

Bev Wolofski, lRead your comments about your fear of making a quilt on the machine. I am a couple of years into making quilts but I was afraid so I made baby quilts for children who have some medical issues as the colors stimulate the brain. It is quiick and simple but colorful. Try making your own pattern and have fun with it. Don,t get to carried away with difficult projects and keep it simple. Can,t wait to see what you come up with. I never thought I could do it but now I love making my own disigns and colors. Good uck
