Josh and I used to play a lot of video games together, I used to work at a video game store in high school. But when I started doing more crafting, video games got put aside in favor of watching more tv shows because I could stitch at the same time. So Josh was extremely excited when Evie started showing more of an interest in playing video games with him (and she’s getting pretty good!) For her birthday he wanted to make her some plush squids from the game Splatoon*.
Josh designed these two squid plush to get printed on Spoonflower fabric. We couldn’t decide what kind of fabric to use and I kind of wish we had tried out Minky. We ordered Kona cotton which is super nice quality, but it’s not the softest.
He originally just designed the squids to be printed as a fat quarter, but it’s only a few dollars more to get a whole yard. So we made a repeating pattern with smaller squids to print on the rest of the fabric. I haven’t decided what I’m going to make yet, Evie requested a shirt but I told her that probably won’t happen out of this. Maybe I’ll order some knit to try my hand at shirt making.
This was my first experience ordering from Spoonflower and I loved it. I really want to try my hand at making some of my own designs.
