Try It Tuesday was started by the ladies at Trends with Benefits as a way to get crafty bloggers to try out different tutorials.
You should head over to Knit Me a Cake to see the adorable jar Leanne made this week too!
I was inspired to try Bargello when I saw the amazing work of Kim from a dork with a needle. I saw this R2D2 Bargello piece on Pinterest and fell in love! I started researching Bargello and I absolutely love the patterns. I grabbed a scrap of 14ct Aida and some embroidery floss and got to work. Kim mentions that Aida and embroidery floss are a good way to try out Bargello but the coverage isn’t fantastic. You can see through to the fabric, even using all six strands of the floss.
I want to try out something bigger and done with yarn for better coverage. I found this a really nice change from cross stitch, but it’s still fairly repetitive and doesn’t require too much attention.
Kim also just posted a tutorial on making these needlepoint sorbet pinwheels, so you might be seeing some of those in the near future too!

I don’t know what it is about bargello that inspires 70s colour schemes, but it’s fab! That’s super pretty!

I don’t know either! It’s crazy that it’s such a historic pattern, it has such a 60s/70s feel. 🙂
