Friday was Evie’s fifth birthday and we had an incredible weekend of celebrations. My cousin has the same birthday and sent Evie a super awesome birthday package and I decided it was time to make a little something for her. I have been sewing a lot more lately but haven’t tackled a zipper in awhile. I’ve been wanting to try making zipper tabs because I knew it looks cleaner, and I also wanted to make a boxy pouch that can stand. I attempted one of these a few months ago and failed spectacularly, so I was a bit nervous.
I used this tutorial from Jedi Craft Girl and I love how it turned out. I’ve already started thinking about Christmas gifts for Evie’s teachers and aids (she has four so I figure I should get started early!) and these are strong contenders!
I also made a little necklace using one of the fabrics from the pouch and embroidered onto the flower print. I used one of Dandelyne’s new 1″ hoops and I love the size, it’s so adorable!
So what do you think? Pouches for teacher gifts or something else? Mug rug and coffee cozy? I’m open to suggestions!
Your fabric combination on here is fantastic!
This turned out beautifully!!! Loooove the matching necklace!
Very pretty! I love little gifts like this!
