Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day!

20140511-223731.jpg
This past weekend, Jen from 52 lasers did the Craftstraganza show in St. Paul, MN. It looks like an extremely fun show!
Since this was the first time she was selling her needle minders, I had the idea to make a hoop to display them.

I was going to get fancy with colors but decided to keep it simple so it didn’t distract from the needle minders. I used a gray for the font (which I matched to the same font as her Isette branding) and then a lighter gray for the design under the text. I made the design loosely based on a necklace of hers.

If you haven’t gotten a needle minder, they’re available at Beadeux. And don’t forget about the floss organizers!

And even better, we’ve decided to take part in Sew Mama Sew’s Giveaway Day and you can win a triangle bamboo needle minder and matching salvaged wood floss organizer!

The giveaway will end on May 16 and the winner will be notified by May 18. This is open to everyone, we will ship internationally.

Question for you, if u make a project and want to keep it in the hoop and hang it up, what do u need to do to keep it in the hoop? Glue? Any pointers would be great!

  2. says

I am crocheting a throw for myself šŸ™‚ I also have a hoodie for my daughter on my sewing table and a shawl for my friend on the needles.

  3. Stephanie F says

I have fabric for atleast 5 quilts cut out and ready to sew… now I just need to find the time.

  4. wendyhatton says

I’ve put sewing aside for the moment as my daughter wants a few crochet soft toys for her children. My hooks are out!

    • says

I love crochet for toys! I have a few crochet blankets I want to finish but my crafting changes with the seasons, I really don’t feel like using yarn now that it’s getting warm!

  5. Christy Dixon says

I’m working on a princess outfit for my granddaughters first 18″ doll she’s getting for her birthday in June. I made her the matching outfit last year and I want to give her the new doll in the same outfit! (My granddaughter will be 5)

That’s a great idea, I’m sure my daughter would love that! We took her to the American Girl store but she was still too young and not all that excited. When she finally gets one I’m hoping to make lots of outfits for her! šŸ™‚

    • says

Fun! I have been a bit hexagon obsessed and I’m making a full quilt. I might need to make a smaller doll one first, it’d be a great chance to try out quilting techniques!

  6. says

I’m in the middle of quilting a picnic quilt. These are great needle minders and I love the floss organizer. Thanks for a great giveaway.

That sounds a lot like me! I always have a ton of projects going at once. We took a 2 hour road trip last weekend and I brought 6 different ones along!

    • says

I’m so behind on my stitching too! It’s so hard to juggle too many projects because none of them get the attention they need!

  8. says

I am just getting back into cross stitching after years of quilting. I am working on a dragon cross stitch that is about half way done. It is huge and time consuming; but, I think it will be well worth it when it is done!

I have never seen these before and I thank you for showcasing them (and for participating in Sew Mama Sew giveaway).

And, I thank you for a chance to win!

    • says

Oh i didn’t realize craftsy had embroidery classes! I’m still fairly new to embroidery and I’m working on learning new stitches besides just back stitch and split stitch.

  9. Pim M. says

I’m working on a Precious Moments little girl cross stitch for my newly baptized niece. šŸ™‚ Almost done!

  10. Amy C says

Tonight I hope to finish a table runner I am making for a sample – deadline is Monday but I have other things in between that will interfere with sewing (my 40th Birthday).

  11. Carla G says

I’m working on a counted cross stitch picture of clematis flowers! And sewing up some pj’s for my boys. šŸ™‚

  12. Juliet H. says

I’m working on some cross-stitches to decorate my fiancee’s side of the hobby room. It used to be exclusively my craft room but he was feeling lonely and decided to move his gaming computer in to spend more time with me (sweet I know, I guess I can give up my ironing station!). So I’m making video game themed cross-stitches to tie it all together! Would you like to make me a cross-stitch pattern for the x-com logo or shadow run? Thanks for the opportunity AND introducing me to 52 lasers!!!

  13. says

It’s a pretty long list! Piecing a quilt, binding another, hand quilting a cushion, machine quilti g a mini, a small cross stitch, a large blackwork project, a hardanger sampler, I’m hooking a rug, grouting a mosaic, finishing of a handful of jewellery pieces and knitting a bunny. Not all at the same time

  14. Sarah Clemons says

Right now I’m working on a Christmas quilt. Didn’t make it for last Christmas, but maybe this year!!!

    • says

I am so terrible about Christmas crafting. I should do it now, I’m always too busy making presents to have any time for decorations! I have been wanting to make a felt advent calendar.

  23. Elizabeth W says

  24. Melissa W. says

I’m currently working on knitting a pair of mittens but i hope to get done soon so that i can start sewing again.

  25. says

My angled frames quilt with the old red barn quilt a long on Flickr. (i’ve always heard of needle minders would love to try one but i’m not even sure how one uses them.)

    • says

I never really understood all the hype about needle minders, but I love using it now. There’s a magnet and you put the fabric in between both magnets. Then you can set your needle on the surface when you are done stitching instead of having to stick it through the fabric!

  26. Lee says

I am working on a pet sampler for embroidery right now. For sewing I am working on Jane Austin BOM! thank you!

    • says

I’ve been making a lot of embroideries as gifts recently. They are so much fun to make and I think they make such a great and thoughtful gift!

  27. Genevieve Foxworth says

I’m working on two hand quilted quilts and a large piece of filet crochet with a quote from “Deadwood”.

  28. says

Oh, Rebecca – surely you don’t think I can just tell you about *one* thing I’m currently working on?! šŸ™‚ Mostly my crewelwork still, and my new needlepoint sampler which I LOVE – big fat stitches! Also, I’m just about to start tweaking on a new design for my blog, which isn’t exactly related, but it’s the big project on the horizon.

I love these needle minders – I’d never even heard of such a thing until I saw yours and now I really really wants one of my own. šŸ™‚ (I also want to see the filet crochet Genevieve (above me) is working on – I love Deadwood!)

Thanks for the lovely giveaway – xoxo

    • says

I really want to try crewel and I’ve only done one needlepoint project but I loved it. I definitely want to do more! I can’t wait to see the new blog design, I have some work I’d like to do on mine too!

      Good luck! šŸ™‚

  29. says

Oh my, there are lots of things I could be working on, but haven’t been lately. It’s time to pull out my series of heritage Santas — a cross stitch pattern series that I’m needle pointing in pearl cotton. Love the stylish thread holder and needle keepers. So much nicer than the paper strip with holed or the knotted bundles.

    • says

When I get too many projects going I have a hard time wanting to work on any of them. I get a little overwhelmed by everything I could be doing that instead I do nothing!
I should try to get some Christmas projects done now because I never have the time or want to work on things around Christmas!

  30. Jess says

I am currently working on a baby quilt and a knitting baby bib (for two different babies). I have a pattern and the main fabric for a dress for myself, I just need the contrast fabric It’s getting warm, so I should get on it!

I have a very large cross stitch wall hanging with a south american theme, using wool. It will beautiful when I finally get it finished.

Currently working on making some all in one activity bags for my daughter and her friends…so the crayons books and pencils all stay in one thing for the summer and can grab and go.

  33. says

I’m working on an embroidery piece for a friend … making a stitched version of a painting she did. Such fun, and wow, is it expanding my colorwork horizons!! I could really use a needle minder and a floss organizer!!!

    • says

That sounds like such a neat project! I imagine it would be very challenging to turn a painting into an embroidery!
      Good luck! šŸ™‚

I’ve been working on a tapestry for my mother in law for years, but haven’t got around to finishing it! Sigh. My mother is always doing cross stitch, so I would give this to her!
