Last month, the DuPage Children’s Museum had David Newell, better known as Mr. McFeeley from Mr. Rogers’s Neighborhood.
He did a special member’s only event and we jumped at the chance to go. I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, he’s 74 years old. But when he came out in his Speedy Delivery uniform, you could tell he still loved doing this.
He brought a bunch of puppets, X the Owl, King Friday, Daniel Tiger. He sang and interacted with the kids, most of whom seemed to be there largely because their parents loved Mr. Rogers.
Afterwards he was signing autographs and we were the first people in line. He was just talking with us, asking us about what we did and about the baby. He suggested a book to read to Evie to get her ready for the new baby. He was just a genuinely nice man and it was a pleasure to meet him.
