July TSNEM – Knowing When To Give Up

If you follow me on Instagram you may have noticed me mention lately being in a bit of a creative funk. I've been making a lot of things for swaps lately (which I'll finally be able to show off!) but I haven't been doing any cross stitch and I don't have a project that I've been really, really excited to work on. I've been working on embroidered cranes for my 1000 crane quilt so at least I'm accomplishing something. But the deadline is so far away and there's so much to do, it's hard to really get excited about it at this point. I am also stuck in this place where ... Read More

Silhouette Tissue Paper Canvas Art

I am super excited to be partnering with Silhouette for their Black Friday promotion. They sent me some fun supplies to play with and I have some projects I'm super excited to share with you! Plus at the end of this post I'm going to share details about the Black Friday sales going on at Silhouette! I was on the fence about getting a Silhouette CAMEO for months, I absolutely loved the idea of them, but I really worried I wouldn't use it. I knew it would come in handy for cutting out English paper piece templates, but I wasn't sure how much I would use it beyond ... Read More

Happy Halloween!

Evie cycled through a lot of Halloween costume ideas and I wasn't going to let her change her mind anymore. But when she said she wanted to be R2D2, how could I say no to that? Plus, her Elsa dress that we got isn't really conducive to trick or treating in the Midwest. The high tomorrow is 43F, so the ability to layer under this hoodie will be necessary! Josh and I originally had grand plans to paint a bike helmet for her costume, but this hoodie from the Disney Store was perfect. I got some white pants from Old Navy and decided it needed a little something extra. I ... Read More

Evie’s My Little Pony Party with Free Silhouette Files!

Evie decided she wanted to have a My Little Pony party and I was kind of relieved. Last year I had a lot of fun putting together her Mo Willem's Pigeon party, but I put a lot of pressure on myself. So her picking a theme that I could buy a lot of the supplies at the party store definitely simplified things for me! I knew I wanted to at least make her a crown though and I wanted to make her a skirt too. For my birthday Josh got me a Silhouette Cameo and it is amazing. Once I've used it a bit more I will write an entire post about it. I figured I could make ... Read More

Embroidered Shoes!

I bought myself a pair of shoes months ago with the intention of stitching on them, but like so many of my projects I just couldn't decide what to do. So I decided to get a pair of shoes for Evie and stitch those to get myself inspired. I used a water soluble marker and drew some designs on them. I made it up as I went along, and once I did the first shoe I just copied it onto the second. I picked a colorful pallet, I wasn't going to limit myself! These shoes are for a 3 year old so they should be bright and fun! Now, I learned a few important things that I ... Read More

WIP Wednesday – A Tale of Two Blankets

I started a blanket for Evie when I was still pregnant with Mira. It's a starburst granny square one and I love it, but the idea of joining it and weaving in the ends was enough to make me hide it away for months. During that time I started a blanket for Mira, this one is a giant granny square. I purposefully chose a pattern that wouldn't require joining and would have a lot less ends to weave in at the end. One of my 2014 goals was to finish both blankets. I finally got my act together and started joining Evie's blanket. I decided to single crochet them together ... Read More

Coffee Filter Flowers – Guest Post

I have another toddler craft project over at My Craftily Ever After. I know it's not spring yet, but you can make a bouquet of these bright flowers and pretend like it is! This craft is super simple but a lot of fun. I think I enjoyed making them just as much as Evie did and we keep making more all the time. Head over to my Craftily Ever After to get the full tutorial! Also in a completely unrelated note, look at this awesome picture that Evie drew on the iPad. ... Read More

Felt Valentine Necklace

One of my 2014 goals was to try new crafts. Needle felting was high on that list of ones to try. I got a needle felting kit for Christmas two years ago and I was just so nervous to try it out. I am not the most graceful person and I get hurt a lot. I've been to the ER because of an Xacto knife before, so the idea of me stabbing things with needles seemed like a bad idea. I finally got over my fear and gave it a whirl this past weekend and I loved it, it's so amazing to me to take some wool roving and a needle and end up with a solid object. I needle felted the ...
