A Trip to Benzie Design

Benzie Felt has long been one of my favorite places to order felt online. The first time I stitched on it, I was converted and I could never go back to acrylic felt. Every felt project I've done has been on Benzie Felt. Well, they recently opened a brick and mortar store in downtown Plainfield. It's about a half hour from my house so I dragged the girls along and we went. It happens to be directly across the street from a splash park, so everyone was happy! The store is incredible. It's so bright and colorful and there's so many fun things. I ... Read More

One Thimble Issue 11 – Wild Things Baby Shoes

Please note: This post contains affiliate links as indicated by an asterisk. I absolutely love Issue 11 of One Thimble*, there are so many fun projects. When I was picking the pattern to try, I couldn't resist these Wild Things Baby Shoes*. I originally intended to make them as a gift for a friend's baby, but my children claimed them for their toys. Mira told me her mouse's feet were very, very cold and thanked me for making him shoes. This pattern is super adorable and a relatively easy sew (except I don't read directions well so the seam ripper had to ... Read More

Coco Flower Wreath – One Thimble Issue 8 Giftables

Ok, I cheated a little bit with this. The whole idea of this blog hop was to make something that you would then gift to someone else, but I am selfishly keeping this wreath all for myself. There are a ton of amazing patterns in One Thimble Issue 8* and I had a really hard time choosing just one. Hopefully I'll be doing a few more of them soon! I tried out the Coco Flower Crown pattern* from Molly and Mama and it's absolutely gorgeous! (She made my cactus hexie wall art and I LOVE how it looks. Check it out here. The Coco Flower pattern is fantastic, there are ... Read More

Make Believe Week – Superhero Accessories!

A few years ago I got Evie a superhero cape from a seller on Etsy and Mira got her own for Christmas. I had been wanting to make them accessories for awhile but it always managed to get put aside because of another project I wanted to do. So when Chelsea from GYCT Designs said she was organizing a Make Believe Week, I knew I was on board! Sometimes the only way for me to get ideas for projects done is to sign up for swaps or blog hops so I have more of an "assignment" mindset. Since I already had the capes I made matching wristguards, belts, and masks. I didn't ... Read More

Studio Ghibli Swap – What I Sent

I love swaps and when I see a really fun theme, I have a really hard time saying no! I couldn't pass up the Studio Ghibli swap organized by Felice from Sew Scatterbrained. There was a pretty long time between getting our swap partners and the deadline so it was nice to not be too rushed. The downfall was that I did wait on a lot of things because I felt like I had so much time and then did scramble a little in the end, but I was able to still get it in the mail a little early. I started this No Face embroidery hoop right away and then got the news ... Read More

Felt Plush Carrot Pattern

Evie loves Sofia the First and asked me recently to make a carrot for her stuffed bunny from the show, Clover. It was a simple little project and didn't take me long and I figured I'd put together a pattern in case anyone else wants to make a little carrot plush, especially with Easter coming up. It would also be a super cute addition to any play kitchen! I get my wool blend felt from Benzie Design on Easy and absolutely love it. The 6x9" sheets are big enough for this, I used tangerine and kelly. Cut out two of each of the pattern pieces. Using a ... Read More

One Time I Made An Airplane Quiet Book

When Evie was about 18 months old we went on a trip to California and I made this airplane busy book for the trip. It was the first busy book I've ever made and I wanted show it off, even though the project is years old and I would do a lot of things differently if I made it now. I wanted all the pages to be different aspects of travel so I started with a suitcase. The suitcase zips and inside are some different pieces of clothing that can be put on the little girl. Now I mentioned I would have done things differently, the biggest thing is that I would ... Read More
