I am not a huge fan of Chicago. I love that I live close enough to go to events there, but I hate traveling there. And so when I was emailing Carina about the swap and places, I made sure to give her other options.
For our honeymoon Josh and I flew to San Francisco and then drove down to LA. We loved San Francisco and have visited one other time since then. So while I left it open if Carina wanted to go in a completely different direction, I did suggest SF as an option for the swap piece.
Carina went above and beyond and created this amazing piece of the Golden Gate Bridge, I absolutely love it. She printed onto fabric and used waste canvas to add colorful black work as well as the text.
I love the result, it’s such a colorful and unique piece. I like the experimental nature of it, but it still has a definite Carina feel to it.
I was also beyond thrilled to see these gorgeous fabrics! I want to come up with a fun project for that Union Jack fabric and the others are destined to become hexagons!
Carina included a ton of different notes explaining all the items she sent and giving me backstory to them all. It was so much fun opening each thing and reading about what makes it special.
I have been meaning to put together a gallery wall of artwork near my desk and I think I’m going to need to do that this week! I love these swaps because I am amassing an amazing collection of stitched pieces!
And if you missed it, see what I sent to Carina for the swap!
