Mollie from Wild Olive and Susi from Lilla Louise organized a traveling gingerbread house. You can read more here,

Last week I got a package from Kim from Babes and Brides, it was my turn to add a piece of candy! Along with the gingerbread house there was also a journal to write a bit about your candy choice, I loved reading everyone’s stories!

Kim also sent an adorable snowman cross stitch kit, some floss bobbins, a skein of DMC 9 , and a mug rug she made using Mollie’s tutorial. I had wanted to make one of these because I absolutely love them, and Kim picked the greatest fabrics! I especially love the teapots and teacups on the back.

It was nice to be early in the gingerbread house’s travels because I still had a relatively blank slate to work with, but it also made it challenging because the possibilities were endless. I ended up going with a lollipop stitched with metallic purple Kreinik thread. I was nervous to start so I tried a few test stitches first. I originally thought about doing a swirly lollipop, but that just wasn’t working for me. To keep the lollipop as round as possible, I first did a backstitched circle and then filled it in with satin stitch. I was really happy with how it turned out and I can’t wait to see the other additions.

It was such a cute idea and I’m glad to have taken part in it! I sent it off to Texas with a few goodies for the next stitcher and I’ll be keeping an eye on it’s journey.
