Every time we go to Target Evie always wants to get some party hats, so I knew we had to have some for her Pigeon party.
My original plan was to cut out the Pigeon from colored cardstock and then glue it on. I quickly realized this wasn’t going to work well because the thick cardstock wasn’t sitting flat. Josh suggested just using regular printer paper and coloring it with highlighters. After I colored them I cut them out and painted Modge Podge on the back and attached it to the hat (or bag). Then I applied a layer of Modge Podge over the top. I went back with a paper towel and q-tip and wiped around the shape to clean up the excess Modge Podge a little. Once they were dry the paper was affixed really well and had a nice shiny seal over the top.
For the favors I printed off coloring sheets and activity pages from this PDF I found and included markers for coloring them. I also put some bubbles and play dough, two of Evie’s favorite toys. And because I’m a glutton for punishment, I decided to make felt Pigeon plushes. I was up until 1:30 the night before the party finishing assembling them. I printed off a coloring sheet as a template and cut out the different pieces. Originally I was just going to sew on the outline of the wing with a backstitch, but after doing one I felt that I needed the extra dimension that came from using felt. I have three more that are cut out but haven’t been assembled, eventually I’ll finish them up.
