Another Dumpling Swap – Bee Edition

Dumpling Pouch Swap - Bee Edition by Hugs are Fun
Awhile back I participated in a swap of dumpling pouches, I made a hexagon rainbow pouch. I signed up for another swap, this one was bug themed.

I loved how the rainbow one turned out but I swore I wasn’t going to do hexagons this time, they took so long. As you can see, I changed my mind and did them anyways. I was going to do squares of various bug fabrics but it felt disjointed and just didn’t feel right. Josh suggested instead of using bug fabrics to use the design to show the theme. My partner raised bees as a child, so making it bee themed wasn’t a hard decision.

I love how the yellow and black stripes look, it’s so bold. The interior fabric is a grey hexagon print that reminded me of a honeycomb. I also made a tiny bee cross stitch and turned it into a button.

I also included a few other bug themed goodies – bee balm seeds, Burt’s Bees lip balm, a bee stamp, ladybug ribbon, and butterfly washi tape.

Another part of the swap was to send fabric, finding bug fabric was harder than I expected but I found a few really great ones. The pink dragonfly fabric is my favorite.

I had some trouble with the zipper, this is the first one I’ve ever done alone. In the end it worked out, but it took me a few tries. It’s not perfect, but isn’t that part of making something handmade?

All the ones I have done have been through Instagram. There is usually someone who organizes it, you should be able to find it through the hashtags. Hope you can find one!
