Evie decided she wanted to have a My Little Pony party and I was kind of relieved. Last year I had a lot of fun putting together her Mo Willem’s Pigeon party, but I put a lot of pressure on myself. So her picking a theme that I could buy a lot of the supplies at the party store definitely simplified things for me!
I knew I wanted to at least make her a crown though and I wanted to make her a skirt too.
For my birthday Josh got me a Silhouette Cameo and it is amazing. Once I’ve used it a bit more I will write an entire post about it. I figured I could make things a lot easier for myself by cutting out the ponies for her crown out of felt. I used the felt crown from Bugs and Fishes for the base shape, it’s the third time I’ve used it and it always works really well! I found tons of vector files on deviantART from DJDavidhu and I downloaded Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash. I simplified the files and made them into a silhouette of the ponies since they were going to be fairly small.
Cutting felt on the Silhouette Cameo worked extremely well! I asked Jesse from Art School Dropout for some advice because she’s on the Silhouette design team. I used the Silhouette clean cut interfacing and I used the double cut feature and it worked perfectly. I was amazed at the detail even on such little shapes. I stitched around the shapes with matching embroidery floss to attach them to the crown.
The skirt was the lazy days skirt from Oliver + S. The skirt was super easy but I did skip the ribbon detail at the bottom, but I still think it turned out cute.
I had planned on baking a cake for her but it didn’t turn out well and I decided she really wouldn’t care if I made it or not, as long as there was one and it was chocolate. So we stopped by Super Target before her party and picked one up.
She was extremely excited that wrote her name on it in pink. I picked up a pack of little ponies to use as cake toppers.
Here are the Silhouette files for Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash. Enjoy!
My Little Pony Silhouette Files
And make sure to check out all the amazing vectors from DJDavidhu. I will probably make more Silhouette files eventually, so let me know if there’s a pony you would want a cutting file of!

How fun! I loved My Little Ponies growing up and there’s a box full of them in my parent’s attic to pull down for my daughter, I can’t wait!

I loved them when I was younger too, and Care Bears! Lucky you still have yours! The ones they have now aren’t as nice as the ponies I grew up with!

Mine has a huge collection of those little ponies you used for the cake. She is pretty obsessed with them. I’m fine as long as she doesn’t want the creepy horse/people dolls. I wish they still had the ones from when we were little!! My mom might have ours in a box somewhere…I should ask. Love your crown!! I am pinning it to my bday crown board 🙂

Those horse people dolls freak me out! Evie pointed one out at Target and I quickly ushered her away!

So cute – who wouldn’t love a My Little Pony crown!?

I think I need one for myself now!
