Friday Favorites – Quilt Blocks and Cute Cats

I’ve wanted to do a weekly post of interesting things I’ve found on the interwebs but always talked myself out of it because I didn’t know if anyone else would care. But it’s a new year, and this year I’m going to try it anyways! This is a trial run, we’ll see what sort of feedback I get and how it goes!

I got a message this week from someone that bought my solar system cross stitch pattern on Etsy. She sent me a photo of the finished piece she made for her son, complete with a quote from Interplanet Janet from School House Rock. I also love the added star stitches!

I love seeing things people have made with my patterns. So if you’ve stitched something up, I’d love to see! Send me an email to Rebecca (at) hugsarefun (dot) com

Allyson Lassiter, an extremely talented friend from college, posted this awesome quilt block that she made on Instagram.

I fell in love and ran over to Etsy to find the seller who made the pattern. The shop, Bubblestitch has a ton of amazing paper pieced quilt squares.

Cyrille, the talented woman behind BubbleStitch, was amazing enough to send me a pattern and I had the hardest time picking one. I picked the hedgehog, but just look at this polar bear and his little shirt! And I love the camping set of patterns, especially the trailer.

She also has a great quilting blog that I just started following, there’s even a section of some free quilt patterns. She also has a second Etsy shop, The Cuckoo Clocks, where she sells play kitchens and embroidery patterns. Here’s that awesome trailer again!

Next thing I loved this week has been Becky from The Pink Samurai, her ” target=”_blank”>new 365 project is one of the best things to happen to the internet. She’s illustrating this adorable cat and a daily holiday. She’s already done some great ones, but I think these four are my favorites so far.

Her sense of humor is awesome, I love the nod to Herb Alpert on Whipped Cream Day. She also posts her drawings to Instagram every day if you want to follow her there.

Finally, have you entered the Darby Smart giveaway? If you like getting mail and like crafty fun, you definitely want to win this!

So what do you think? Is this something you’re interested in me continuing or is it totally boring? Tell me the truth, I can take it!

I have yet to venture into machine quilting. I generally know how to sew, but there’s a lot of settings I don’t understand. So I worry about making anything on my sewing machine that really needs to hold up.
