Geogram Blog Hop

Right as we were getting ready for our big move to Colorado I got an email asking me to be a part of the blog hop for Samarra Khaja's new fabric line Geogram with Lecien Fabrics. Despite having so much to do with the move, I could not say no the the chance to make something with this gorgeous fabric line. As soon as I saw the fabric line I fell in love with it, and it's even more amazing in person. It has 30 SKUs and a variety of precuts and will be in stores this month. The colors are so incredibly vibrant, I immediately knew I would be making something ... Read More

2017 Temperature Quilt

At the beginning of the year we moved to Colorado. Josh got a job at Google in Boulder so we've all embarked on a big adventure. Before this move I have never lived more than an hour and a half from where I grew up. I had never visited Colorado until we came out in December to look for a place to live.  I'm still adjusting and doing a lot of exploring. I've found a lot of great quilt shops and gone to some craft groups. I did get my sewing machine set up and one of the things I've worked on is a temperature quilt.  There will be 12 rows and I'm using ... Read More

Rainbow Sampler Quilt

I have been on a quilt top making kick. I have a stack of 14 of them and I'm about to add another to it this week. Apparently my declaration that I am a real quilter went to my head. I've had this idea to make a sampler quilt for a really long time. I love the idea of a quilt with varied block sizes and I knew that I wanted to do a rainbow one. My original plan was that I would make each color span a 12" strip of the quilt and make all the blocks sizes that would nicely fit together. However, I am very bad at math and ended up with really varied sizes ... Read More

I’m a Real Quilter!

I got this Maker Valley Quilter shirt but have always felt like a bit of a fraud when I wore it. I've got a stack of quilt tops but hadn't actually finished a quilt so it felt disingenuous to call myself a quilter. But I finally did it, I finished a quilt. It's not perfect, but it's done and I love it. For Christmas my husband got me a jelly roll of Blueberry Park fabric and I made a really simple quilt top. I used Aurifil thread and did simple straight line quilting down each stripe. The stitches aren't consistent or straight, there's some fabric ... Read More

May TSNEM – Hand Quilting

The May Try Something New Every Month theme was "hand sewing" and I really struggled to think of something I hadn't tried before. I decided on hand quilting. I have tons of quilt tops finished, but I also knew that I didn't have the time to hand quilt a larger quilt so I decided to make a rainbow star mini quilt specifically for this. I watched this video on hand quilting basics by Wendi Gratz. I seriously love that woman, her videos are always the first place I search when I'm trying to learn a new crafting skill, she explains it all so well. I went out and got ... Read More

Pixel Heart Totes

For Christmas I made pouches for all of Evie's teachers so I felt like I set a precedent that I needed to exceed for end of the year gifts. I made each of them a quilted pixel tote bag and I absolutely loved how they turned out. Because I am insane, I started these a couple weeks before the end of school while I was also prepping for our trip to Disney World. I also made myself a purse before we left. I kind of want to make an entire pixel heart quilt now, even though I know it would take forever. But it would be amazing. Between these and ... Read More

Project Starter’s Anonymous – Another Hexie Quilt

My Save the UFOs campaign is not going great, I didn't finish anything rom my list in March and April isn't looking very promising either. I did start a pretty big project though that I'm absolutely in love with. Despite having two hexie EPP quilts in progress, I started another. I love this because it only uses a couple colors and the placement is random so it's a really mindless project. I keep a pouch full of pink, red, and orange hexies ready to be basted, and then another full of ones that are done. I just grab and start attaching without thinking about it ... Read More

Geometric Heart Mini Quilt

When I made my geometric heart cross stitch pattern I always wanted it as a quilt. At the time I didn't know anything about quilting and knew I wasn't up for the challenge. A few months ago I realized that my quilting knowledge made it possible for this to actually happen now. I made it entirely with scraps, each square is 1.5" finished, the whole thing is about 9" square. I want to get a wall of mini quilts going and I'm really pleased with this one being the start of it! ... Read More
