Modern Sewcialites – February and March

I've added a couple more blocks to my Modern Sewcialites quilt and added some stars. I wanted to add a few stars to my January block to add some extra shine. I used the Confetti Star Block from During Quiet Time and just printed it at different sizes. I'm not entirely sure about the March house block, right now it feels a little too intense because of the lack of white. As of right now I'm going to leave it and see if it's less out of place once more blocks have been added. Otherwise, I'll go back in and add some windows to it to lighten it up a ... Read More

Rainbow Sampler Quilt

I have been on a quilt top making kick. I have a stack of 14 of them and I'm about to add another to it this week. Apparently my declaration that I am a real quilter went to my head. I've had this idea to make a sampler quilt for a really long time. I love the idea of a quilt with varied block sizes and I knew that I wanted to do a rainbow one. My original plan was that I would make each color span a 12" strip of the quilt and make all the blocks sizes that would nicely fit together. However, I am very bad at math and ended up with really varied sizes ... Read More

Rainbow Wild Animal Cross Stitch Patterns – One Thimble Issue 11

(Please note: Affiliate links are indicated by an asterisk*) One Thimble Issue 11* is here and it's an amazing one! I am so excited to have my cross stitch patterns in this issue, I absolutely love how they turned out. The rainbow tiger actually has been waiting to be released as a pattern for years, I originally stitched it up for a Mr. X Stitch swap all the way back in 2014. When I first stitched it, every single stripe on the tiger was a different color and it took forever. I simplified it a bit and made wider stripes of each color. It's totally ... Read More

Inches Stitchalong – Square Four

For the past few years I've been a contributor at &stitches and I am so grateful to have been apart of such an amazing group of stitchy people. The decision was made to end the blog but we decided to go forward with a yearlong stitch along that was already planned. Every few weeks one of us will be sharing a prompt for stitching a 1" square. Check out the schedule (and download a template) here, and join along with us. First up was Carina, next was Julie, and you can see Nicole's over on Instagram. And now here's my prompt for you - RAINBOW! I drew 17 ... Read More

A Rainbow Quilt!

I got really amazing feedback on my post about giving up on a project. It felt like a weight was lifted and I was finally able to start something new. I talked to Evie about what kind of quilt she would want me to make and originally she said pink, but then changed her mind to wanting a rainbow quilt. I know I want to make quilts for both girls so I decided to cut two blocks of all the fabrics and then make them each rainbow quilts using different designs. Since I almost exclusively buy 1/8 yard cuts of fabric which is 4.5", I decided to do 4" blocks. To ... Read More

Another Rainbow Dumpling Pouch!

The first English paper piecing project I've ever made was a rainbow dumpling pouch and it's still one of my favorite projects I've ever done. It was for a swap though and I sent it away and have always been sad it's gone. I finally got my act together and made myself one to keep. The zipper is a tiny bit wonky and sticks a little bit, but overall I'm still happy with it. I used 3/4" hexagons, I make my templates with theFiskars Hexagon Squeeze Punch, Large.* I'm using it to hold everything for a tiny hexie project I'm doing. I'm counting this as ... Read More

Rainbow Hexagon Needlebook

I so rarely make things for myself, but I signed up for the Selfish Swap over at Things for Boys and it seemed like the perfect chance to make some things I've been putting off. First up is a new obsession of mine, these little hexagon needle books. I've made three so far, one for a swap that has to stay secret for now, and one that I will be sharing soon. But the third one, this is for me! I used this tutorial from My Three Sons and it goes so quickly. I used 1" strips and sewed them together with a 1/4" seam. I basted them like I normally would onto a ... Read More

Another Rainbow Cross Stitch iPhone Case

One of my all time favorite things I've made is still my first iPhone case. I had to retire it though when I got my iPhone 6, it doesn't fit plus it got really grubby after spending a year being taken in and out of my pants pockets. All the way back in November I bought a cross stitchable iPhone 6 case and I finally decided I needed to stop thinking about it and just start stitching. The seller contacted me and gave me a coupon code for all of my lovely readers! If you buy a case use the code HUGSAREFUN for $2 off! I loved the triangles of my first case but ... Read More
