Since I obviously needed yet another hexagon project, I whipped up this little headband.
I really, really love the mini hexie necklace that Haley at The Zen of Making posted so I wanted to try out using smaller hexagons. She used 1/4″, I didn’t go quite that small. These are made with 1/2″ hexagons.
Evie’s favorite color changes whenever I asked, but the day I worked on this she decided it was green. I made five hexagons and whip stitched them together. I traced the shape onto a piece of felt and cut it out. I was going to do an invisible stitch to attach them, but I was having trouble doing it with the felt. So instead I grabbed the fabric glue and attached it that way.
I used my hot glue gun to attach the hexagons to the headband and it worked great! The felt backing made it stiff enough so it lays flat against the headband.
I’m making another for a friend and I was also thinking of toying around with making a barrette, but I might need to break out the 1/4″ hexies for that!

Laura,
Thanks so much! I hope you found some fun and interesting things when you were looking around. I used to mostly just do cross stitching but I have been addicted to hexagons lately and have been branching out a lot and it’s been really fun!
