Review – My Crochet Doll

My Crochet Doll Book Review

I was really excited to review My Crochet Doll by Isabelle Kessedjian, the adorable cover was enough to catch my eye.
This book serves one purpose, to give you a fantastic doll pattern and then all the tools you need to personalize her and make her your own. In the introduction Isabelle talks about her childhood and the quest to find the doll that was especially for her. This book provides everyone with the opportunity to do that, and does a great job of it too.

The book feels so personal, I can tell that Isabelle put a lot of herself into making it. The beginning of the book almost feels like a children’s picture book, the doll is
in different scenes; at the doctor, out in the rain, at school. Each picture is unique and features the doll dressed in a different outfit with the appropriate accessories.

The amount of detail is amazing to me. Just look at these tiny crochet cakes!

The patterns are very well written and easy to follow, but aren’t for the beginner. They are more complicated (and the small size will definitely be difficult for someone just starting out with crocheting.) If you have experience with crocheting and are looking to try something new and challenging, I think this book would be perfect!

I want to sit down and have Evie design a doll for me to make her. I’m hoping she picks the superhero or the bear outfit, but they are all so cute!
