Last year I attempted to do a stitch a day and I barely made it to February before pretending I never started. So this year I wanted to try another year long project, but I was trying to come up with something that wasn’t so easy to get behind on. Once I miss one (or five) days, I just immediately want to throw in the towel.
I had been toying with the idea of doing something with learning new skills but I wasn’t sure about the logistics. Every week seemed like it was going to be too difficult to sustain. Thankfully, Stephanie from Swoonson Says is putting together a year long project called Try Something New Every Month. There are a bunch of different bloggers that will be taking part, all of them trying a variety of different things. The first Monday of every month Stephanie will post a round up of all the TSNEM posts.
Now, I have quite a list of things I’m hoping to try, but I might make some changes along the way. I’m not committing to doing anything a particular month, I’m going to just see how I feel. But here are some potential things I’ll be trying in 2015:
Embroidery
Sashiko
Punch needle
Crewel
Quilting
Foundation paper piecing
Free motion quilting
Knitting
Color work
Cables
Socks
Miscellaneous
Weaving
Polymer clay
Glass etching
Screen printing
Macrame
Wood burning
Tamari
Calligraphy
Any other ideas for things I could add to my list?
Try glass fusing! John and I did earlier this year and we had a blast!
Oooh, I’ll look into it! Thanks!
On my list this year is printing. I want to try to make my own blocks. And I always think I’m going to try my hand with resin.
Josh got me a screen printing kit for Christmas and I’m very excited to try it out. And resin is a good one, there’s a resin bracelet tutorial I wanted to try out.
I can’t think of anything else, but I’m certainly looking forward to reading about you trying them! Have fun
Thanks! I’m excited because a lot of these have been on my to do list for ages and now I’ve got a good motivation to do them!
Ooo, this is a wonderful idea. I’ve tried so much; I wonder if I can think of 12 different things that wouldn’t cost a fortune to start up.
Hey wonderful idea!! I wonder if I should do a 365 project. I was successful in previous years. Hmmmm
I love following along with other people’s 365 projects and seeing what they make, they’re just too hard for me to do! I am very easily distracted and I think it takes a level of dedication I don’t have!
Yes, I love this idea
This is a neat idea!
