One of the reasons I do so many swaps is to motivate and challenge me to try new things. A lot of the cross stitch patterns in my shop came about because of swaps and lately I have been using it to push myself more with sewing. CraftingCon is a sewing based competition with different nerdy themes. There was a swap on the Facebook group and I couldn't resist signing up. My partner loves Alice in Wonderland and I was right in the middle of my Tsum Tsum cross stitch madness and decided to make an Alice pattern. I wasn't sure what to make, but when Faith from ... Hexagons within Hexagons!
I've been having a lot of fun making these hexagon needle books, I've actually made 5 of them now. Some are for swaps and some are for a project I just need to get my act together so I can show off... But this one I made on a whim and I love how it turned out. But the third one, this is for me! I used this tutorial from My Three Sons and it goes so quickly. I used 1" strips and sewed them together with a 1/4" seam. I basted them like I normally would onto a ... Read More
A Hexagon Firefly Needlebook
RockIslander organized the bug themed dumpling swap I did and she made her partner an amazing hexagon bee needlebook. I fell in love with it and wanted my own so I proposed a trade of some sort. I am making her the Wee Little Stitches Sherlock cross stitch, and I am the proud owner of my own hexagon needlebook, mine is a firefly. The cross stitch is taking a lot longer than I expected, but I loved swapping for something I could not have made myself. Do you ever trade your goods or services? Have you gotten anything neat by doing this? ... Read More
