Make Believe Week – Superhero Accessories!

A few years ago I got Evie a superhero cape from a seller on Etsy and Mira got her own for Christmas. I had been wanting to make them accessories for awhile but it always managed to get put aside because of another project I wanted to do. So when Chelsea from GYCT Designs said she was organizing a Make Believe Week, I knew I was on board! Sometimes the only way for me to get ideas for projects done is to sign up for swaps or blog hops so I have more of an "assignment" mindset. Since I already had the capes I made matching wristguards, belts, and masks. I didn't ... Read More

My Favorite Embroidery and Cross Stitch Tools

One of the things I really love about cross stitching (and embroidery too) is how little you need to get started. Some fabric, embroidery floss, a needle, and a hoop is really all you need to get started. However, once you've been stitching for awhile you might want to start treating yourself to some nice little extras that help make things a little easier. Here are a few of my favorites. Threads 99% of the time I use DMC floss, mainly because I have all 454 colors. It's just so convenient to use because it's inexpensive, extremely easy to find, and there are so ... Read More

Studio Ghibli Swap – What I Got

I was so excited yesterday to come home to find my Studio Ghibli swap package! It was a bit late and I was starting to get pretty antsy seeing all the amazing packages people were getting. Thankfully the package was seriously worth the wait! I got this incredible quilted Toroto bag. The bag is a really nice size and is really well constructed, and I didn't notice this until later but there's a little clip in the inside for keys. Which is amazing because just last week I had my keys disappear at the bottom of my bag and I had a moment of panic thinking I lost ... Read More

Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan Cross Stitches

A few months ago Josh sent me this amazing Kickstarter for a campaign to start a Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan museum in a Brooklyn apartment. We backed the campaign for $5 because we desperately wanted to see the video with curators Matt and Viviana showing off the museum. I jokingly Tweeted to them asking if they were accepting artwork for the exhibit and was met with an enthusiastic yes. I had kind of forgotten about it and got a message on Twitter a few weeks ago asking if I was still interested. Not wanting to miss out on the opportunity to create these ... Read More

April TSNEM – Foundation Paper Piecing

Foundation paper piecing has been on my to do list for months and months but I have been really nervous to try it. I've looked at guides and I just could not wrap my head around how it worked. I also kept dragging my feet on choosing a pattern, there are so many options out there. Carina has recently been making these awesome, brightly colored paper pieced geese so I decided that would be a good place to start. I bought the Goosed Up pattern from Jeliquilts and immediately started panicking. The pattern looks so unbelievably complicated and I still couldn't make ... Read More

Studio Ghibli Swap – What I Sent

I love swaps and when I see a really fun theme, I have a really hard time saying no! I couldn't pass up the Studio Ghibli swap organized by Felice from Sew Scatterbrained. There was a pretty long time between getting our swap partners and the deadline so it was nice to not be too rushed. The downfall was that I did wait on a lot of things because I felt like I had so much time and then did scramble a little in the end, but I was able to still get it in the mail a little early. I started this No Face embroidery hoop right away and then got the news ... Read More

What I’ve Been Up To!

It can be hard to consistently have projects to show off and write about. Crafts take time and sometimes projects have to be kept secret until they're done. If you follow me on Instagram you can usually catch some sneak peeks of what I'm working on. I did a few guest posts for some craft blogs with kid's Easter craft ideas. They're all pretty quick and Evie and Mira had a lot of fun with them, there's still plenty of time to make these before Sunday! At Seams and Scissors find out how to make this scrappy fabric Easter egg. At FaveCrafts find out how to ... Read More

Rainbow Quilt Update!

It's been awhile before I had any sort of update on the status of my rainbow quilt. It's a very, very slow moving project and I'm working on it in a kind of backwards way. I used this hexagon quilt calculator to figure out how many I needed and the grand total was 3284. I ended up with a lot more than that though because I wasn't paying attention and made a couple hundred too many in some colors and had to play catch up to get enough of the others. So I'm going to have to come up with a project that uses a lot of yellows, greens, and blues! The finished quilt ... Read More
