Twinery and Ruby Rock-It Blog Hop!

Today is the last day of the Twinery and Ruby Rock-It blog hop! You should have gotten here from Denise Hahn If you're new, I would love for you to like my Facebook page and follow on Bloglovin'! I was sent the Oriental Chic collection and my first idea to make origami paper cranes was a bust. The card stock was to thick to easily be able to use for origami. So I decided this was a good time to pull out my new Silhouette Cameo! I remembered a post from Jesse at Art School Dropout where she made a paper planter. I bought the same file she used and ... An EPP Hexagon Shortcut

I'm not exactly sure where I saw this idea, I think it was from someone in a Facebook group. But I just love it so much and had to share it. When I baste my hexagons I use the method of little stitches at each corner, the same one Haley from The Zen of Making uses.. I used to finish the hexagon and then cut the thread. But here's the crazy trick... After you're done just keep basting the next one! Instead of cutting the thread, just insert the needle into the next hexagon and start basting. Just leave a little space in between the two and baste as you ... Read More

Creativity Expressed

When I started this blog it was meant as a place to showcase my cross stitches, but over the last year and a half it's really evolved. I feel like my tagline "modern cross stitcheries" has become out of date because I have been doing so much more. I have been doing a lot of embroidery and this year I started my enormous, ongoing English paper pieced hexagon quilt. Jen from Lovely Messes asked me to take part in her Creativity Expressed blog series and talk about my hexagons. It's been an interesting process for me. I have always wanted to make a quilt but I don't ... Read More

Evie’s My Little Pony Party with Free Silhouette Files!

Evie decided she wanted to have a My Little Pony party and I was kind of relieved. Last year I had a lot of fun putting together her Mo Willem's Pigeon party, but I put a lot of pressure on myself. So her picking a theme that I could buy a lot of the supplies at the party store definitely simplified things for me! I knew I wanted to at least make her a crown though and I wanted to make her a skirt too. For my birthday Josh got me a Silhouette Cameo and it is amazing. Once I've used it a bit more I will write an entire post about it. I figured I could make ... Read More

Evie is Four!

While it felt weird for Mira to turn one, it feels absolutely insane that my baby girl Evie is FOUR! Four years ago I became a mom and it was the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me. Looking back at pictures, I can't believe she was ever that tiny! Sometimes I get sad about how grown up she is now, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. She has such an amazing personality and is so much fun to be around! I'm constantly amazed by her sense of humor and her intelligence, she always keeps me laughing. I am so proud every day of the amazing person that ... Read More

A Trip to Renegade Craft Fair Chicago 2014

Last year was the first time I went to the September Renegade Craft Fair in Chicago, and I was excited to go again this year. It's the largest of the Renegade Craft Fairs and it is such a fantastic experience. I follow a lot of the vendors on Instagram and it was great to finally see their work in person. Last year I left with quite a few purchases, but all I got this time was a headband. I still haven't framed and hung up all my prints I got last time, so I refused to let myself but any this time. Since I don't have purchases to show off, I'm just going to show off ... Read More

Free Pattern Friday – Origami Crane

When Josh and I got married I folded 1,000 paper cranes and used them as decorations at our reception. Ever since then, origami cranes have had a special place in my heart. I've been wanting to make a crane cross stitch pattern for a long time and finally sat down and did it! And it's my gift to you. Why not stitch 1,000? The finished crane is about 4x2 inches when done on 14ct.
