Embroidery Floss Ornaments

I have two big mason jars full of embroidery thread, this is the one from last year and I'm keeping one this year as well. I was doing monthly posts about my ORT jars but that kind of fell by the wayside, though I am still filling mine up. I've been wanting to do something with the threads so I've been keeping these jars around. I got some fillable plastic ornaments from Michael's. There are also glass ones available and I actually think they might be cheaper, but Mira tends to take ornaments off the tree so I wanted to stick with plastic. You can get them on ... Read More

Thread Chaos

One of my 2014 goals was to get all the different colors of DMC floss. I haven't taken inventory recently and decided I needed to do a little bit of reorganizing. This is the result. I'm going to need another box! ... Read More

TUSAL – 2014 Edition!

Last year I took part in It's Daffycat's Totally Useless Stitchalong. (TUSAL) I missed the last update in December and never showed off my year of thread, so here it is now. I can't bring myself to throw it away, so I've been keeping it until I decide what to do with it. And now it's 2014 and I have a new ORT (old ratty threads) jar. I haven't stitched a ton this year, so it's not very exciting yet. Right now there is a lot of thread pieces from my hexagon sewing. There's something about a big jar of thread scraps that is so satisfying! You can see all the TUSAL ... Read More

Usually when I go to the store to grab a color for a project I grab a couple extra colors too. They're only $.37, how can I pass them up? Well, I started noticing that in doing so, I gravitate towards the same colors. So I downloaded the app XFloss and I'm slowly going through and cataloging all of my current thread. Then I can look at what I don't have and make a shopping list. I also started wrapping my thread a new way. I ... Read More

Yarn Cutter Strap

I bought this neat little yarn/thread cutter months ago and always planned on adding some sort of strap to it so it was a little easier to tote around. I finally did it and it went super quick and made me wonder why I waited so long! I used the idea behind this leather bracelet but used some black silk cord I had instead. I grabbed a few colors of embroidery floss and got to work. The only beads I had that were big enough were Evie's plastic pony beads, so I picked a glittery purple one. It's not perfect, but It probably took me about 10 minutes and I already had all ...
