A Little Christmas Tree Quilting with Free Pattern

I made this little English paper pieced Christmas tree and had intended on making it into a wall hanging before posting it. However, it's becoming glaringly obvious that with the Christmas presents I'm working to finish up, that isn't going to happen in time for Christmas. So I figured I'd show off my work in progress. I'm planning on 2015 being the year I make a triangle quilt so I wanted to do a little test project before I dive in. The tree went pretty quickly and I love how it looks. I've never actually done any quilting before and I'm not entirely sure ... Read More

Embroidery Floss Ornaments

I have two big mason jars full of embroidery thread, this is the one from last year and I'm keeping one this year as well. I was doing monthly posts about my ORT jars but that kind of fell by the wayside, though I am still filling mine up. I've been wanting to do something with the threads so I've been keeping these jars around. I got some fillable plastic ornaments from Michael's. There are also glass ones available and I actually think they might be cheaper, but Mira tends to take ornaments off the tree so I wanted to stick with plastic. You can get them on ... Read More

Silhouette Pom Pom Christmas Tree

There's a few more days to take advantage of the big Silhouette Black Friday sale. I picked up a bunch of supplies and I'm really excited to play around with them! One of the supplies that Silhouette sent me to try out was the double-sided adhesive and I knew I wanted to use it for a Christmas craft with Evie. I used the Christmas tree cutting file that is already in the Silhouette Studio software. It had an inner outline that I ungrouped and deleted so that it was just a solid shape. I picked out two different green colored pom poms for the tree and I also ... Read More

Modern Felt Advent Calendar Tutorial

Growing up we had a fabric advent calendar with a little Christmas tree that you moved into each pocket to count the days until Christmas. I remember being so excited about moving it closer to Christmas and rushing to be the one that got to move the tree. I have been wanting to make my own for years but it's so hard to find time to make Christmas decorations in November and December, and I just don't have the motivation to make them any other time of the year. So when Laura from Bugs and Fishes announced that she was doing another Crafty Christmas Tutorial Link Up this ... Read More

Just a Little Update

I'm in an awkward place right now with my blog. See, I'm actually on top of Christmas gifts this year, I've already finished four of them. I don't think I started making any gifts until November last year, so I am feeling extremely accomplished. Plus I'm working on my project for the Crafty Christmas link up that Laura from Bugs and Fishes is organizing. If you're interested, check out the information here! While I'm feeling super accomplished because of everything I've been making, it's also a lot of things I can't really show off yet. Not all of the gift ... Read More
