Instagram is a dangerous place for me, I just can't help but sign up for these swaps I see there! I keep saying I'm done with them and then I see another that I just can't resist! This most recent one was organized by Paige from Artsy Anthropology as a fundraiser for three families who are adopting. One of the families was a woman I follow on Instagram, LeftyLex. She is selling embroidered necklaces and hoops to raise money for their adoption of an adorable little boy named Kai. There was a fee to participate which was split among the families. My partner ... Some Exciting Prizes!
I recently won a couple really awesome giveaways on Instagram that I can't help but show off! The first was from Dandelyne. I showed off a miniature embroidery hoop I made from Dandelyne and I was so excited to win a prize pack with four miniature embroidery hoops and an embroidery starter kit. I actually misplaced the little hoops for a few weeks and was going crazy trying to figure out where I put them. I cleaned my desk twice looking for them and then they randomly showed up the other day. Now I need to start making necklaces! Next was an amazing fat ... Read More
50 States Update!
A few weeks ago I posted about the 50 States Stitching Club from Mollie at Wild Olive. I ended up redoing the ones I had done before on a thicker fabric. The thinner fabric was really see through and I felt like it looked bad. I had only done a few and it seemed worth it to just start over. This past weekend we went up to Milwaukee for my birthday and I brought all of the states along to get caught up. There have been nine patterns released (the tenth comes today!) and I managed to get them all done. I am working on assembling the stars now, but it feels ... Read More
Book Review – Mollie Makes: Embroidery
Mollie Makes is a well known name in the craft community, and there's a good reason for it. Mollie Makes constantly produces original and high quality content. How cute is this kitty cat tea cozy by Samantha Stas? I have all the other Mollie Makes books (I reviewed the Woodland Friends and Christmas books) and they are all really fantastic. But when I saw that they were releasing an embroidery book, I was thrilled! It does not disappoint at all, it quickly shot it's way to the top of my favorite embroidery books list. I loved this silk ribbon embroidered ... Read More
Sometimes I Swirl
I'm not going to be posting as much in August. I have some exciting projects I'm working on right now, but they are also things I have to keep secret. So for the next month I'm going to be toning back my posting, but I'll be keeping you all updated as much as I can! Today I want to show off the amazing embroideries I got from Sarah Hennessey from Sometimes I Swirl. We swapped work, I sent her two of my cross stitches and she sent me two of her embroidered hoops. I had such a hard time choosing, I knew I wanted one of her mandalas, I love all the photos of them ... Read More
50 States Stitching Club by Wild Olive
Mollie from Wild Olive has another fantastic stitching club, this one is the 50 States! I swore to myself I was going to finish the spring stitching club before starting, but I just couldn't help myself! Every week is a different state and in the end I will have a quilt. I picked out my fabrics and I stitched up the first three states. On Saturday I went to breakfast with Mollie and I gave her a few state themed gifts. I had Jen from 52 Lasers cut this map thread holder and needleminder. I love how they turned out! I also saw these state cookies at Whole Foods ... Read More
Dropcloth Color Wheel Sampler
I bought the Dropcloth color wheel sampler months ago and decided to finally start it last week. I am terrible about buying things and leaving them to sit untouched and I really want to remedy that. I have a lot of other things I've purchased and then haven't used (sashiko samplers, LED stitching kit, specialty threads and fabrics) and I am making it a point to use them. It's so easy to get caught up on making sure you save them for the perfect project so they don't go to waste. But in reality, by leaving them sitting around, they are already going to waste. I ... 30 for 30 Crafting Challenge Done!
I made it through the 30 for 30 crafting challenge and I'm pretty proud of what I've accomplished! I finished the French knot color wheel. This became my main focus for awhile and I'm really excited to have finished it during the 30 days. I didn't work on Evie's blanket at all but I'm almost done with Mira's. This is the hardest to see a lot of progress on, but I've done 4 rows around. I have 4 more rows and then a border and I'm finished. I still have a few more designs to stitch up and a lot of hexagons to make, but it made good progress on the Wild ... Read More
