Nerds Craft It Better Swap – What I Sent

I've done yet another swap, this one was the Nerds Craft It Better swap on Instagram. Sign ups were all the way back in January and the ship date is just now coming up. While I like having plenty of time for swaps I also feel like such a long deadline can be a bad thing and cause you to put things off. I already showed off the Mario 1up mushroom necklace (and shared the free pattern) but here's the rest. My partner listed other nerdy things she was into as well, but I couldn't resist sticking with the Mario theme. I designed a Mario and Luigi cross stitch pattern ... Read More

Studio Ghibli Swap – What I Got

I was so excited yesterday to come home to find my Studio Ghibli swap package! It was a bit late and I was starting to get pretty antsy seeing all the amazing packages people were getting. Thankfully the package was seriously worth the wait! I got this incredible quilted Toroto bag. The bag is a really nice size and is really well constructed, and I didn't notice this until later but there's a little clip in the inside for keys. Which is amazing because just last week I had my keys disappear at the bottom of my bag and I had a moment of panic thinking I lost ... Read More

Studio Ghibli Swap – What I Sent

I love swaps and when I see a really fun theme, I have a really hard time saying no! I couldn't pass up the Studio Ghibli swap organized by Felice from Sew Scatterbrained. There was a pretty long time between getting our swap partners and the deadline so it was nice to not be too rushed. The downfall was that I did wait on a lot of things because I felt like I had so much time and then did scramble a little in the end, but I was able to still get it in the mail a little early. I started this No Face embroidery hoop right away and then got the news ... Read More

Best Birthday Ever Swap – Sign Ups Closed!

I love doing swaps and have always toyed with the idea of hosting one but was really daunted by the idea. Last night I was talking with Kristy from Simply This Life about a swap idea and the next thing I knew we had arranged our first swap. This is going to be a bigger commitment because it's a year long endeavor, so please, please don't sign up unless you're really sure you can fulfill the obligation. The idea is this, every quarter you'll send a gift to someone during their birthday month and then come your birthday month, you'll get 4 awesome presents. Each ... Read More

A Secret Santa Swap – What I Sent

The amazing ladies at &stitches did a Secret Santa swap and I had the pleasure to make something for Nicole from Follow the White Bunny. I was really excited about the exchange but also very nervous because I didn't want to send a disappointing package! I knew I wanted to do something with cross stitching (it is a stitching blog after all!) but I also wanted to make something more than just a hoop to hang up. I went and picked out fabrics based on the colors that Nicole said she liked and I made a Flower POW Mug Rug from CraftyPod's pattern and a hexagon zipper ... Read More

Happy Unicorn Swap – What I Sent

My Happy Unicorn Swap partner got her package yesterday, so I can finally show it all off! I got my swap package earlier this week, and I was so excited to send this to my partner. I always love sending embroidery floss for swaps, I have such a fun time picking out a color pallet. For this one, a rainbow just seemed necessary because you really can't have unicorns without rainbows! I wracked my brain for what to send as the "unicorn item." The coordinator suggested sending something that was unique to your state or region and I just couldn't pick ... Read More

Happy Unicorn Swap – What I Got

I've been trying to limit the amount of swaps I sign up for, but every once in awhile I come across one I have to sign up for. On Saturday I got a package from Tiffany of Sew Long Sanity with this amazing mini unicorn quilt. I love the colors and there are so many incredible fabrics she used. I've never done paper piecing but it's on my list of new things I want to try next year. One of the swap requirements was to send a "unicorn item," something rare or hard to find. Tiffany sent me this Heather Ross fabric, it's amazing. However, I'm absolutely ... Read More

Artsy Adopt Swap

Instagram is a dangerous place for me, I just can't help but sign up for these swaps I see there! I keep saying I'm done with them and then I see another that I just can't resist! This most recent one was organized by Paige from Artsy Anthropology as a fundraiser for three families who are adopting. One of the families was a woman I follow on Instagram, LeftyLex. She is selling embroidered necklaces and hoops to raise money for their adoption of an adorable little boy named Kai. There was a fee to participate which was split among the families. My partner ...
