WIP Wednesday – Hexagon Update

I have so many things up in the air right now, my WIP pile is kind of out of control. I have four hexagon projects right now. The first is the blanket I've been working on, then there's Wild Olive's spring stitching club, and two secret projects. I have officially crossed the halfway mark, I have 991. And I think it's about time for me to switch to a new page in the book and I'm also going to need a new box soon! I used to grab a couple skeins of embroidery floss every time I went to the craft store, now I get a couple 1/8 yards of fabric. Hobby Lobby always ... Read More

WIP Wednesday – A Tale of Two Blankets

I started a blanket for Evie when I was still pregnant with Mira. It's a starburst granny square one and I love it, but the idea of joining it and weaving in the ends was enough to make me hide it away for months. During that time I started a blanket for Mira, this one is a giant granny square. I purposefully chose a pattern that wouldn't require joining and would have a lot less ends to weave in at the end. One of my 2014 goals was to finish both blankets. I finally got my act together and started joining Evie's blanket. I decided to single crochet them together ... Read More

WIP Wednesday – A is for Astronaut

I was hoping to do a space flashcard a month, but I'm way behind schedule for that. I am in the process of working on one though and I'm really loving it. I decided to go back and start at the beginning of the alphabet, so I'm doing A for astronaut. I'm hoping to finish it up over the weekend, but I can't decide what color to use for the text. I'm torn between the blue or red. Thoughts? ... Read More

Vintage Quilt

My mom brought me three boxes of partially finished quilts from my great grandma. They've been in a closet for years, and with my recent hexagon obsession, my mom figured it was the right time to dig them out. I was really hoping to be able to use the hexagons that she had cut out and use them in the quilt I'm making but sadly, they are too small. She wasn't paper piecing them, instead they are being sewn together so they are cut to size. There are 13 completed hexagon flowers that I definitely want to do something with! There is an entire box of these ... Read More

Finish-Along

&Stitches is having a Finish-Along and it seems like a terrific way to start off the new year and get some old projects out of the way! I dug out some works in progress and I'm going to commit to finishing them! I started this Statue of Liberty as a Christmas gift but at the last minute started something new. I think it's going to look great when it's done, but I haven't loved stitching it. So it makes it really hard for me to reach for this project when I'm in the mood to stitch something. I started this waste canvas cross stitch monogram and I kind of abandoned it. ... Read More

Works in Progress

Last night Josh and I went and saw Hugh Laurie in Chicago. He was fantastic live and the musicians in the Copper Bottom Band were incredible. I haven't actually completed any projects in the past few days, so here is my current list of things I'm working on (and a few things I plan on starting soon!) First up is my iPhone case, I'm really excited about this one. Josh got me one years ago and I could never decide what I wanted to stitch so I didn't ever do it, and now it won't fit on my current phone. I was determined to avoid doing that again so I made a decision ... Read More
