I am working on the Wee Little Stitches Sherlock pattern. An Instagram friend is making me an amazing needle book and I am making this cross stitch for her in exchange. I've never done any of the Wee Little Stitches patterns before but it's really well done. I've been slowly filling my ORT jar. A few months back I participated in the Bestiary swap over on Weave, the social media site run by Mr. X Stitch. It was a bit late but I finally got my piece and I couldn't be more thrilled! I was paired with Mr. X Stitch himself, Jamie Chalmers. He sent me this amazing black on black cross stitched cat. I love it, the cat is so subtle but the eyes are so intense. I got a lot of votes on which design I should use for my tiny embroidery hoop. Despite most people voting for the bird, I just had to go with the flower. I feel like I will end up wearing it more. I still plan on using the bird for something, I'm just not sure what yet. A couple people asked me how the back is finished so I thought I'd show off how it works. There are two flat circles that go with the hoop. The fabric is glued around the inner hoop and then a piece covers it on the back. Months and months ago I bought this tiny embroidery hoop from Dandelyne on Etsy. I was really excited but like so many other times I buy cool things, I get nervous to use them. I feel like I'm not going to come up with a good enough project to do them justice. I finally decided I just needed to stitch something up for this hoop so I can make it into a necklace. When I signed up for the &Stitches swap, I had no idea what I would do. The theme was "places" and I wasn't sure about doing a cross stitch of a specific location, I like to keep things more simple and stylized.
