As part of the 30 for 30 crafting challenge I've been putting in more time on the doodle stitchalong project. I've been exploring more new stitches and I just started playing around with using different numbers of thread strands. I'm usually a 3 strand girl, I like how it covers without being too thick, but I've done some 1 strand stitching on here. I don't think I'll ever really be done with this, I'm just going to keep this as my long, long term project. You can read more about the Doodle Stitchalong here. Long Forgotten WIP – Embroidered Map
I think this might have been the first embroidery project I've ever done. I started it maybe 2 or 3 years ago, I'm not even sure when it was. I remember why I put it aside though. I started getting to the small states on the east coast and they were getting a lot harder to do with this stitch outline and I got frustrated. I can't decide if I should just finish it or if I should start over in a different style. I would like to have a stitched map! Have you recently rescued any long forgotten projects? ... Read More
French Knot Color Wheel
I have always loved the look of projects consisting entirely of French knots but they always seemed like they would take way more patience than I have. About 6 weeks ago I had the idea to make a French knot color wheel using a 3" hoop. I figured that it wouldn't be as much of an undertaking working with a tiny hoop. Let me tell you, it still took a long, long time. I worked on it pretty diligently for a few weeks and then set it aside. The 30 for 30 crafting challenge inspired me to pick it back up and finish it. I started focusing all my efforts on it and finally ... Read More
WIP Wednesday – 30 for 30 Progress
I am absolutely loving this 30 for 30 crafting challenge! I have so many projects I lost interest in working on that I do really want to finish, but I have a hard time choosing them over the more exciting current projects I'm working on. But 30 minutes is such a short amount of time, I can easily set aside a half hour to work on one of these poor neglected projects. I laid out a list of the projects I planned to resurrect and I've been making good progress! The French knot color wheel is my new focus. I really want to get it done so I have been working on it the ... Read More
30 for 30 Crafting
I craft for way more than 30 minutes a day, but I still feel like this #30for30crafting challenge that Jess from The Crafting Geek set up will be extremely beneficial for me. When talking about my creative process I mentioned losing momentum on projects and leaving them unfinished. This happens way more than I wish it did, so I'm going to use this challenge as an opportune to revive some of them. For at least 30 minutes a day I will set aside my current project and pick up one of these almost finished WIP. Evie's blanket I finished all the squares for this months ... Read More
Dandelion Puff Embroidery Pattern
Last year I participated in the Christmas link up that Laura at Bugs and Fishes organized. There were so many fantastic projects and so many different ones! Well she's organized another one, this one is all flower themed and I'm thrilled to take part again! I created a colorful dandelion puff embroidery and I'm sharing the pattern with you! Now this pattern isn't exact, I improvised a lot, but I'm giving you a basic framework to start with. I did the center lines and then worked the French knots in the center and then the outside. The black areas of the pattern ... Read More
WIP Wednesday – French Knots and Doodle Stitching
I think my French knot obsession started when I saw Julie from Got the Button's sampler. I love the look of all of those knots clumped together, it creates such a great texture. I've wanted to make my own for awhile, but was intimidated about doing anything too big because I thought it would take forever. The other night I got the idea to use one of my tiny 3" hoops and it's going pretty quickly. I am making a color wheel and I'm really excited to finish it. It's going really quickly. When my thread runs out, instead of finishing a section I start another color. I get ... Read More
