I didn't finish this one in time for the contest, but here's another one done! I was working on it at 11pm on Sunday night and the deadline was 6am Monday morning. I knew it just wasn't happening and went to bed. I wasn't too disappointed, I managed to finish 3 others, and while I like the Hubble, the Galaxy one is definitely my favorite. I'm still planning on finishing the whole alphabet but I'm going to put it on the back burner for a bit. I have some WIP I want to finish and a list of Christmas projects I need to start tackling. I will definitely come back to ... Read More
G is for Galaxy
Here is my third completed cross stitch flash card for the &stitches back to school contest. I have been working on a list of words to make a complete alphabet, I am really loving making these and want to have a whole set! Josh has been making these patterns and he's doing such an awesome job, I love them. I think this one is my favorite, but I do love the first two a lot. I started a fourth one that I should have finished by the deadline Monday, so stay tuned. ... Read More
Works in Progress
Last night Josh and I went and saw Hugh Laurie in Chicago. He was fantastic live and the musicians in the Copper Bottom Band were incredible. I haven't actually completed any projects in the past few days, so here is my current list of things I'm working on (and a few things I plan on starting soon!) First up is my iPhone case, I'm really excited about this one. Josh got me one years ago and I could never decide what I wanted to stitch so I didn't ever do it, and now it won't fit on my current phone. I was determined to avoid doing that again so I made a decision ... Read More
Flash Cards!
There is a back to school flash card contest going on over at &stitches. I really wanted to enter and make flash cards for both girls to add to their ever growing monogram collection. I've had so many other projects I needed to finish first that I only got around to starting these recently. I'm furiously stitching away at an attempt to finish a third flash card before the deadline tomorrow, we'll see what happens with that. But here are the two I have finished. I knew I wanted to do a science theme and immediately started brainstorming options. I almost did E ... Read More
Experimental Cross Stitching – Office Supplies
I had started playing around with cross stitching on different surfaces but then got sidetracked working on other things. One of the things I've wanted to do was to cross stitch on wire office supplies, so I got these pencil holders from IKEA. Yesterday I finally grabbed some yarn and did some stitching. I had never stitched with yarn before, I think it would have been a little nicer to work with it if it were a little thinner. It took me a little bit to figure out where to cross stitch but it worked out well. I didn't even count the spaces yet the pattern ... Read More
Old Projects – Pig Cross Stitch
I made this a few years ago for my parents as a Christmas gift. They have an enormous pig collection so I drew this guy and made it into a pattern. I've been wanting to make more cross stitches of my drawings, seeing this guy might be the push towards doing that. ... Read More
Free Pattern Friday – Pretend You’re Good At It
The second time I met the Bloggess, she talked about Neil Gaiman's advice about doing an audiobook, "pretend you're good at it." I found an interview on glamour.com where she talks about it. ... Read More
Phat Quarter Swap – Five
I participated in my second Phat Quarter swap, this time the theme was "five." I did the science swap back in May, and I was excited to do another. I signed up right away but had absolutely no idea what to do so I kept putting off working on it. The deadline was getting closer and closer so I finally made a decision to do five separate pieces. My swap partner said she liked birds so I decided to do a series of them. ... Read More
