Free Pattern Friday – It’s a Cat!

This month's pattern was a request for a friend who wanted to cross stitch a cat as a gift. I was really struggling with getting this to look right, so Josh came to the rescue and helped out. He did a great job, so enjoy! Download the PDF here - Free Pattern Friday July 2014 There are more free patterns to download here, and patterns to purchase here at my Etsy. ... Read More

Book Review – Amigurumi at Home

I've been doing a lot more crocheting lately because I am trying to finish Mira's blanket. I try to limit my yarn projects I have at any given time because I'm not as good about finishing them as I am with embroideries and cross stitches. However, once I finish this blanket I am going to be making something from Ana Paula Rimoli's new book Amigurumi at Home: Crochet Playful Pillows, Rugs, Baskets, and More. This book has an amazing selection of really unique patterns, there isn't a single granny square to be found. But there is a cupcake rug, a tooth pillow, a robot ... Read More

30 for 30 Crafting Challenge Done!

I made it through the 30 for 30 crafting challenge and I'm pretty proud of what I've accomplished! I finished the French knot color wheel. This became my main focus for awhile and I'm really excited to have finished it during the 30 days. I didn't work on Evie's blanket at all but I'm almost done with Mira's. This is the hardest to see a lot of progress on, but I've done 4 rows around. I have 4 more rows and then a border and I'm finished. I still have a few more designs to stitch up and a lot of hexagons to make, but it made good progress on the Wild ... Read More

Thread Chaos

One of my 2014 goals was to get all the different colors of DMC floss. I haven't taken inventory recently and decided I needed to do a little bit of reorganizing. This is the result. I'm going to need another box! ... Read More

Some Sherlock Cross Stitching and an ORT Update

I am working on the Wee Little Stitches Sherlock pattern. An Instagram friend is making me an amazing needle book and I am making this cross stitch for her in exchange. I've never done any of the Wee Little Stitches patterns before but it's really well done. I've been slowly filling my ORT jar. There's a lot of rainbow colored bits from the French knot color wheel and quite a bit from the doodle stitch along. You can read more about the ORT jar and the TUSAL here. ... Read More

Another Dumpling Swap – Bee Edition

Awhile back I participated in a swap of dumpling pouches, I made a hexagon rainbow pouch. I signed up for another swap, this one was bug themed. I loved how the rainbow one turned out but I swore I wasn't going to do hexagons this time, they took so long. As you can see, I changed my mind and did them anyways. I was going to do squares of various bug fabrics but it felt disjointed and just didn't feel right. Josh suggested instead of using bug fabrics to use the design to show the theme. My partner raised bees as a child, so making it bee themed wasn't a hard ... Read More

WIP Wednesday – Doodle Stitch Along Progress

As part of the 30 for 30 crafting challenge I've been putting in more time on the doodle stitchalong project. I've been exploring more new stitches and I just started playing around with using different numbers of thread strands. I'm usually a 3 strand girl, I like how it covers without being too thick, but I've done some 1 strand stitching on here. I don't think I'll ever really be done with this, I'm just going to keep this as my long, long term project. You can read more about the Doodle Stitchalong here.
