Josh's sister is getting married in July and her bridal shower was last weekend. The invitation came from Casalastudio on Etsy and I used the design to make a few gifts. Along with the invitation, everyone got recipe cards to share their favorite recipes. I briefly debated painting a recipe box for her, but instead talked to Jen from 52 lasers about etching it with the laser cutter. Originally I had planned on painted the letters after it was etched, but it turned out so amazing I didn't want to risk messing it up. The banner underneath has their wedding date on it. ... Bedpop Show
Jamie Chalmers from Mr. X Stitch curated a show in Bedford England and I am so excited to have four pieces in it! One of my 2014 goals was to display my work in an art show, and this week I'll be in two! My mother-in-law, Kathie Webb, also has some embroideries in the show from her collection Verbal. I really wish I could go check out this show myself, it looks amazing. All of the pictures that Jamie has posted on Facebook are great, there are so many talented stitchers on display and I'm honored to be apart of it! I'm finishing up my projects for a ... Read More
April ORT Update & Doodle Stitchalong News
There is something so satisfying about seeing a jar filling up, showing that progress. I don't feel like my jar has been filling as quickly as last year, I've been doing a lot of different projects besides just cross stitching. But it's still early in the year. I keep a little pouch with me that I shove all my thread pieces into and then periodically transfer them into my ORT jar. This is a couple week's worth of projects. You can read more about the TUSAL here. The awesome Kittykill over at Craftster has collaborated with me for the Doodle ... Read More
Wedding Gift Embroidery
Over the weekend I attended my sister-in-law's bridal shower and my cousin's wedding. I made embroideries for both events, and I am so excited to finally be able to show off what I made! The font for the names is Lobster Two which you can download for free. I love this font, especially for things with names. It's the same one I used for the purple work Christmas gift I made for my sister. My initial thought was to satin stitch the type, but I worried about my ability to keep it looking neat and even. So instead I used a split stitch outline. I like the ... Read More

Doodle Stitchalong Progress
I love the response there has been to the Doodle Stitchalong. I've had a couple people link up posts, and quite a few participants on Instagram! If you haven't started, it's not too late! Don't feel like you have to finish it or like there is any pressure, it's just meant to be fun! I hadn't worked on my own in awhile, so on Easter when we took a little road trip I brought it along. It was a great project to work on in the car, just stitching without thinking too much. I used some variegated thread and I really love the effect. I might need to play around with ... Read More
Quilty Stitches Update
I had gotten a bit behind on the Quilty Stitches sampler so I set out to get caught up over the weekend. Part of why I hadn't worked on it in awhile was because of the barn square. I adore the quilt block patterns for this sampler, but the barn just didn't feel right for me. My friend Jessica suggested doing a log cabin design and I thought it was a great solution. I've been unsure about my color choices for some of the blocks. But seeing them all together as a group, I'm pretty happy with the direction this is going. It's not too late to start the Quilty ... Free Cat Patterns!
I wrote a guest post for Bugs and Fishes and made a free pattern for this felt cat. You can see the tutorial and download the pattern there. The finished embroidery fits in a 6" hoop. I also made the cat into a free embroidery pattern! I should have used a stabilizer for the fabric, the satin stitches bunch up in some areas, but I think he's pretty cute if I do say so myself! Download the free embroidery pattern here. This cat would also make a good companion for the little bunny lady I posted the other day, did you download that pattern yet? And don't forget ... Read More
