Friday Favorites – Lasers, Stitchy Selfie, & Mountains

First off I would like to direct all of you to 52 Lasers. Besides having an awesome name, this blog is fantastic! Jennifer (of Isette and Beadeux, the creator of the laser cut pendants) and her husband Ryan (of Abecediary ) have set a goal to create one new laser project a week. The first three weeks have already been really interesting, I can't see what else they come up with! I love reading about the problem solving that goes into laser cutting, it's fascinating to me! Next we have the amazing self portrait cross stitch from cauchy complete. She used 20ct ... Read More

Review – S is for Stitch

S is for Stitch review at Hugs are Fun

I was really excited to review S is for Stitch by Kristyne Czepuryk. I love monograms, so the idea of a whole book of alphabet embroidery patterns definitely appealed to me, and it didn't disappoint. The patterns in this book are adorable and a great collection to make some beautiful keepsake pieces! The book has a fantastic collection of information about getting started with embroidery. The photos and information are great and will make any beginner feel comfortable jumping into embroidery. It's very detailed and there are a lot of good tips, even if you're a more ... Read More

Toddler Craft – Paper Plate Bird

We are part of a group that does toddler craft exchanges (see what I have made for past exchanges here and here). This month has been so crazy and the exchange totally snuck up on me so I had to pick something easy. What you need: Paper plate - cut in half Hole punch Pipe cleaners Feathers Markers, crayons, or paint Eyeballs Glue Construction paper I based this bird off the Pigeon craft we did for Evie's party, but added a little extra to the project like feathers and legs! Use your markers, crayons, paint, or whatever else you'd like to decorate ... Read More

Handmade Christmas – Laser Cut Cross Stitch Edition

I decided to just lump all of the laser cut cross stitches I did into one post since I still have quite a few gifts to show off still! First up we have this color wheel necklace. I made this for my friend Brooke, she's an art teacher and I thought she would appreciate it. I absolutely love how it turned out and I want to make one for myself. In the kits the pendant has two holes, but this is a prototype one hole version. I love the design with the two holes, but I really like how it looks hanging at this orientation. Next is a small pendant I made for my ... Read More

Craft Fair Update and Tips

Last week I did my first craft fair of 2014, and it went really well! I've only done one before and it wasn't very exciting. Thursday night I showed up with an arsenal of new products, which I think helped a lot. At the last show I only had framed cross stitches, but this time I also had kits, buttons, and jewelry. I think a lot of the people stopped because they had never seen anything like the lasercut jewelry. I also had Beadeux's blank pendants available which did really well too. Here are some things that I think that I did right: Having a colorful and ... Read More

Valentine’s Dreamcatcher -Guest Post

This week has been a total blur, I've been so busy getting everything ready for the craft show I did last night. It went so well and I will do a full post soon! I am going to be a monthly guest blogger over on My Craftily Ever After. Every month I'll be doing a toddler craft and this month I made a Valentine's Day craft. Head on over to get the full tutorial! ... Read More

January Artisan Collective Market

Tonight I have a table at this monthly flash market in Batavia, IL with the Artisan Collective. Doing at least one craft fair was one of my 2014 goals and I'm glad to be doing this so early in the year. I'm hoping it goes well and I can update my goal with a much larger number of shows this year. This is only my second time selling at a craft fair, and my product line has grown significantly since then. I have the framed cross stitches I had at my first show, but I also have cross stitch kits, necklaces, bracelets, art in hoops, buttons, and I will also be selling ... Read More

Finish-Along

&Stitches is having a Finish-Along and it seems like a terrific way to start off the new year and get some old projects out of the way! I dug out some works in progress and I'm going to commit to finishing them! I started this Statue of Liberty as a Christmas gift but at the last minute started something new. I think it's going to look great when it's done, but I haven't loved stitching it. So it makes it really hard for me to reach for this project when I'm in the mood to stitch something. I started this waste canvas cross stitch monogram and I kind of abandoned it. ... Read More
