I started this scarf for Evie last winter but never finished it. I absolutely love the yarn, it's really soft. Usually when I buy a variegated yarn I'm disappointed by the outcome, but the gradient on this one is really pretty. However, that's also the reason this scarf never got finished. I'm coming to the end it the skein and I want it to be longer but don't know how the new skein will look. I'm worried there will be a really obvious and abrupt change that will ruin the scarf. I guess really the only way to find out is to try, but I'm nervous. ... Read More
Lucky Underpants Badges
We are currently working on potty training. I wasn't in a rush because it all seemed like such a hassle, especially when I was pregnant, and then once Mira was born I couldn't imagine dealing with it then either. But Evie decided she wasn't waiting for me, and started taking off her diaper and demanding to use the potty. The kid knows what she wants... ... Read More

Curious George Cross Stitch!
Evie's friend recently turned 3 and was having a Curious George birthday party, so I decided to make him a cross stitch. Unfortunately, it took much longer than I expected and it was a couple weeks late. I thought it turned out really cute, but it makes me nervous to give gifts that I've made. When he opened it he kissed it, so I think it's safe to say he liked it! ... Read More
Resurrecting a Project – Evie’s Blanket
As I mentioned before, I'm not great at finishing crochet projects. I started and abandoned three or four baby blankets while I was pregnant with Evie. So when I was pregnant with Mira, I wanted to start a blanket for her, but felt I should make one for Evie first. I picked out this pattern and plowed through it pretty quickly. But when I laid it out, I wanted it to be a lot bigger. When I realized I needed at least twice as many as I had already made, I was so discouraged that I had to put it away. Fast forward to months after Mira's born and I finally decided ... Read More
Waste Canvas Cross Stitch Experiment
The other day I was reading through a Mr. X Stitch post about cross stitching and saw reference to "waste canvas." I had never heard of it so I started exploring further and my mind nearly exploded. It's a cross stitch grid that allows you to cross stitch on any fabric. You just place it on the surface of the fabric you want to use, do your cross stitch, and then you pull out the strings afterwards. I couldn't believe this had escaped me for so long and I immediately started brainstorming all of the different possibilities that this opened up. I'm working on a ... Read More

Toddler Activities – Frog Puppet
The other week we checked out the Thursday morning story time and craft at Culture Stock in downtown Aurora. It's a used bookstore run entirely through volunteers and donations. They have a ton of events in the store. I've been to their Saturday morning stitching group, but this was my first kid event there. The books were all frog themed and then there was a project to make a paper bag puppet. ... Read More
