Quilty Stitches Sampler Along

I joined in on Little Miss Shabby's stitch along. I've always thought that quilt squares would make great cross stitches, and she did a fantastic job making the patterns! I am using the color palette from Satsuma Street's Pretty Little City pattern. I bought the pattern months ago and haven't started it, but I love the colors! This stitch along is actually the first time I've ever done a cross stitch using someone else's pattern, which is kind of crazy! I've been cross stitching for 5+ years and this is my first time! I've never done half stitches before and I ... Read More

Free Pattern Friday – A Modern Valentine Heart!

I wanted to make a Valentine's Day pattern, but I wanted it to be modern and nontraditional. I worked on black Aida, but the pattern is for the version on white. I used DMC thread colors - 603, 208, and 333, but feel free to customize this any way you like. I think it would look great in any color scheme! The gradient of color around the edge is inspired by the E for Eclipse cross stitch, the both have the same way the colors dissolve on the edge. The heart is about 5 inches on 14ct. I made it intending on putting it in a 6 inch hoop. It fits but I think ... Read More

Handmade Christmas – Pixel Grandkids

It's very likely you've seen these pixel portrait cross stitches around. I think they first showed up in a tutorial from Martha Stewart, but plenty if cross stitchers have taken the idea and ran with it. Wee Little Stitches has created a whole series of different pop culture icons in this pixel style. Teresa from Daisies for Violet made a cross stitch for her mom of all the grandkids and I thought it was a great idea. I did my three nephews and then Evie and Mira. I added the year in case I decide to do more. I'm really happy with how I turned out, but I really ... Read More

TUSAL – 2014 Edition!

Last year I took part in It's Daffycat's Totally Useless Stitchalong. (TUSAL) I missed the last update in December and never showed off my year of thread, so here it is now. I can't bring myself to throw it away, so I've been keeping it until I decide what to do with it. And now it's 2014 and I have a new ORT (old ratty threads) jar. I haven't stitched a ton this year, so it's not very exciting yet. Right now there is a lot of thread pieces from my hexagon sewing. There's something about a big jar of thread scraps that is so satisfying! You can see all the TUSAL ... Read More

New Patterns in the Shop!

I have two new patterns in the shop! This vintage camera cross stitch was a Christmas gift for my sister-in-law, she's in school for photography. I love the look of vintage cameras and I had a hard time choosing which one to stitch, but I love the shade of blue of the Diana. Buy the vintage camera pattern here. I've also added two new bird patterns to the collection. This one is a red winged blackbird. Buy the redwing blackbird pattern here. I made this barn swallow cross stitch for my mother-in-law for Christmas, I really loved the colors of this ... Read More

Handmade Christmas – Laser Cut Cross Stitch Edition

I decided to just lump all of the laser cut cross stitches I did into one post since I still have quite a few gifts to show off still! First up we have this color wheel necklace. I made this for my friend Brooke, she's an art teacher and I thought she would appreciate it. I absolutely love how it turned out and I want to make one for myself. In the kits the pendant has two holes, but this is a prototype one hole version. I love the design with the two holes, but I really like how it looks hanging at this orientation. Next is a small pendant I made for my ... Read More

January Artisan Collective Market

Tonight I have a table at this monthly flash market in Batavia, IL with the Artisan Collective. Doing at least one craft fair was one of my 2014 goals and I'm glad to be doing this so early in the year. I'm hoping it goes well and I can update my goal with a much larger number of shows this year. This is only my second time selling at a craft fair, and my product line has grown significantly since then. I have the framed cross stitches I had at my first show, but I also have cross stitch kits, necklaces, bracelets, art in hoops, buttons, and I will also be selling ... Read More
