Free Bunny Pattern – Felt Embroidery Hoop

I'm not sure if you know this, but I went to school for illustration. I don't draw as much as I'd like, but it was on my list of 2014 goals to do it more. I love working with felt, and this felt wool from Benzie Design is so wonderful to stitch on! I created a free pattern for you to make your own felt hoop, but I've also made an embroidery pattern as well! To make the bunny you'll need: Wool felt - I made her white, but I think she would also look pretty cute in brown! A Felt Tea Cup in Mollie Makes!

All the way back in July I mentioned a secret project that I wasn't able to talk about yet. Well, now I can finally reveal that I have a project in the December issue of the US edition of Mollie Makes! Unfortunately I just learned that the US edition won't be printed anymore, but I was so excited to have my project included! I made a felt embroidery hoop tea cup (which is kind of funny because my first ever magazine project was also a tea cup!) Apparently Target sells the US edition of Mollie Makes, but I checked three near me and none of them had it. ... Read More

Hoop-La Project

I realized I never showed off the project I did for Hoop-La! I offered up this pattern as a Free Pattern Friday download and it got turned into a felt coaster. I love how it turned out! I was also extremely excited that the bow tie cross stitch kits made their way into the magazine as well. If you haven't picked up a copy, you can download a digital version! It's such a great magazine! Also, I have a guest post over at &stitches today! Go check it out! ... Read More

Totoro Hoop!

I had so much fun making the Pigeon hoop that I wanted to make another! It's my first time participating in the Illustration Stitch A Long. For Pigeon the embroidery is only to attach the felt, but for this Totoro hoop I used it to add some additional detail for the mouth and whiskers. I really love doing these hoops and want to keep experimenting with using more embroidery details. ... Read More

Vow Renewal Gifts!

This past weekend my sister and brother-in-law had a 10 year vow renewal celebration. Their wedding 10 years ago was at the courthouse so this was their first chance to have a big celebration and I really wanted to make something special for it. I loved how the recipe box that Jen from 52Lasers cut for Josh's sister's wedding shower, so I knew I wanted to make one for my sister and brother-in-law. I sent messages to everyone coming and collected recipes for them and then made matching recipe cards with all of them. I also knew I wanted to make an embroidery for ... Read More

My Favorite Embroidery and Cross Stitch Tools

One of the things I really love about cross stitching (and embroidery too) is how little you need to get started. Some fabric, embroidery floss, a needle, and a hoop is really all you need to get started. However, once you've been stitching for awhile you might want to start treating yourself to some nice little extras that help make things a little easier. Here are a few of my favorites. Threads 99% of the time I use DMC floss, mainly because I have all 454 colors. It's just so convenient to use because it's inexpensive, extremely easy to find, and there are so ... Read More

Studio Ghibli Swap – What I Sent

I love swaps and when I see a really fun theme, I have a really hard time saying no! I couldn't pass up the Studio Ghibli swap organized by Felice from Sew Scatterbrained. There was a pretty long time between getting our swap partners and the deadline so it was nice to not be too rushed. The downfall was that I did wait on a lot of things because I felt like I had so much time and then did scramble a little in the end, but I was able to still get it in the mail a little early. I started this No Face embroidery hoop right away and then got the news ... Read More
