I haven't been working on them as much, but I'm still slowly making hexagons for my quilt. I am up to 1594 now, so I'm getting there! Although I was debating going even bigger and making it a queen size instead of twin. It would require about 1,000 extra hexagons than I originally planned, which sounds daunting, but I figure if I'm going to do it I might as well go all in! And really, if I'm already making 2363, is 3284 really that many more? I was originally going to wait until the end to start joining but I think I'm going to start soon. I'm really excited to see ... Guest Post Hexagon Pincushion
I'm really excited to have a guest post today over at Knit Me A Cake. I love Leanne's blog and I'm really thrilled to have a project over there! She recently tried English paper piecing for the first time, so I thought I'd do a hexagon project. The fabric for these hexagons are all vintage fabrics that I got from my mother-in-law's stash. Head over there for a template and full instructions! ... Read More
Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day!
This past weekend, Jen from 52 lasers did the Craftstraganza show in St. Paul, MN. It looks like an extremely fun show! Since this was the first time she was selling her needle minders, I had the idea to make a hoop to display them. I was going to get fancy with colors but decided to keep it simple so it didn't distract from the needle minders. I used a gray for the font (which I matched to the same font as her Isette branding) and then a lighter gray for the design under the text. I made the design loosely based on a necklace of hers. If you haven't gotten a ... Read More
Fabric Flower Cards
I participated in another toddler craft swap and brought these fabric flower cards. I got the idea from a project we did at storytime and decided it would be perfect to make as Mother's Day cards. I gave everyone enough to make two cards and it was a great way to use up some of my scraps! When we did the project at storytime it was on a full sheet of paper and there were two flowers. The cards were 5x7" and I decided two flowers would be too small for the 2-3 year olds. There would have been a lot of little pieces, so I just did one larger one. The outer circle ... Read More
WIP Wednesday – French Knots and Doodle Stitching
I think my French knot obsession started when I saw Julie from Got the Button's sampler. I love the look of all of those knots clumped together, it creates such a great texture. I've wanted to make my own for awhile, but was intimidated about doing anything too big because I thought it would take forever. The other night I got the idea to use one of my tiny 3" hoops and it's going pretty quickly. I am making a color wheel and I'm really excited to finish it. It's going really quickly. When my thread runs out, instead of finishing a section I start another color. I get ... Read More
Artbar Geek Show and a New Pattern
So while my space cross stitches were on display in Bedford, England, almost 4,000 miles away in Aurora, Illinois I had my work in another show. There is a monthly art show at the Two Brothers Roundhouse. The first Friday of the month there is an Artbar show with a different theme, this month was the Geek Show. I was hoping to create three new pieces, but time was just not on my side. I displayed my periodic table cross stitch and I made a pattern for a 20 sided die. I love how the design looks, but I think if I made it smaller I probably could have finished two ... Read More
Googly Eye Monster Embroidery
Yesterday we went to a friend's daughter's one year birthday party. This freaks me out because it means Mira's birthday is rapidly approaching. I can't believe in less than a month my baby will be one, it feels like only yesterday I was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance to have her. Anyways... Back to the party. It was a monster themed party, so I decided to make some monster embroideries. The invitation was covered in goggly eyes and I thought it would be fun to bring them into the embroideries. I drew about 8 monsters but these three made the cut. The ... Read More

It's that time again, it's Free Pattern Friday! The March free Unikitty pattern was a big hit, so I decided to make another Unikitty. Even angry, I still find her adorable.
