Today is a good day to remember when we put Evie into a pumpkin. I'm not entirely sure what we were thinking, she was a little over a month. Since Mira is already 5 months she's a little too big for the whole photo in a pumpkin thing. ... Read More
Review – Pom-Poms! 25 Awesomely Fluffy Projects
I was lucky enough to get a review copy of this book from Quirk Books and I fell in love. When I thought of pom-poms I thought of yarn balls, but this book goes way beyond that with a ton of great projects using a variety of materials. The book starts off with projects separated into three categories - home, wear, and party. There's a variety of projects, some are embellishments added to things, while others are more elaborate. I always think it's great to have a book with a wide range of project difficulty. It can be intimidating to open a book that is full of ... Read More
Old Projects – Naval Flag Cross Stitch
I made this cross stitch a few years ago spelling out "I love you" in naval flags. I never did anything with it because the plastic hoop I used to make it left a stain around the edge and I got frustrated and put it aside. I finally dug it out and took a Tide pen to it and got rid of most of the circle. I think I might frame it in a wooden embroidery hoop and list it in my shop this week, so stay tuned. ... Read More

A Little Flowered Button
I first got the idea of making these buttons from Sarah Fordham of Magasin. I've since seen some other cross Stitchers who make them, but I hadn't even realized such a thing existed. After some quick googling I found that Joann Fabrics sold a kit to make them for just a few dollars. They had a ton of different sizes but I went with the 1 1/8". I've had these for months and the other night I decided to finally make one. I knew it wouldn't take long, I was able to finish this up during an episode of Walking Dead. I used a flower motif from one of the patterns in the ... Read More
H is for Hubble
I didn't finish this one in time for the contest, but here's another one done! I was working on it at 11pm on Sunday night and the deadline was 6am Monday morning. I knew it just wasn't happening and went to bed. I wasn't too disappointed, I managed to finish 3 others, and while I like the Hubble, the Galaxy one is definitely my favorite. I'm still planning on finishing the whole alphabet but I'm going to put it on the back burner for a bit. I have some WIP I want to finish and a list of Christmas projects I need to start tackling. I will definitely come back to ... Read More
A Trip to the Japanese Market
Over the weekend we went to Mitsuwa Marketplace for lunch. We used to go a lot more often but now it's a longer drive out there so we don't go as much. Mitsuwa has a Japanese grocery store, food court, bookstore, and bakery. After eating we went into the bookstore to look around. I wanted to see if I could find any neat craft books and they didn't disappoint. I had a hard time tracking down the cross stitch books because the section names were all in Japanese, but I eventually found quite a few great books. This one was part of a series, I had a hard time ... Read More
Happy Birthday Josh!
This post is going to be sappy because it's my favorite husband's birthday! This is the 14th birthday I've celebrated with him and it's the first with two little girlies! We've gone some fun places and done a lot of fun things, and I look forward to everything the future has in store. Josh is my best friend and an amazing dad. Plus, he makes me cross stitch patterns and websites without complaining. He's definitely a keeper. Happy birthday Josh! ... Read More
