I've done some busy bag exchanges in the past, but my ideas are always a bit limited because I have to make so many of them. So when Stephanie from Swoodson Says suggested a virtual busy bag exchange, I was really excited. I would just have to come up with an idea for a single busy bag, so I could put a lot of effort into making a super awesome one. And I might have gone a little overboard... What You Need: Clothespins Clothesline (I found one at the Dollar Tree. I tried to use thinner twine I had around but it wasn't thick enough for the clothespins to stay ... Read More
Plastic Canvas Valentine’s Box Pattern & Tutorial
I'll be honest, I never really considered the serious crafting possibilities of plastic canvas until Diane from CraftyPod opened my eyes. Last year she organized the plastic canvas blog hop that I made baby blocks for and I've been wanting to experiment more with it ever since. I had this idea for making a heart box for Valentine's Day but I was struggling with getting the shape right. I emailed Diane and she suggested sticking with 45 degree angles when working with plastic canvas and that helped immensely! I have a pattern for the box at the end of the ... Read More
Free Pattern Friday – Make Something Every Day!
This month's first Friday really snuck up on me! Suddenly it's a new year and I need to make a pattern within the next day! But I have one for you, and I hope it'll be a good motivation for you this year! I set a lot of goals in regards to what I plan on creating this year, but really none of that is really important. It doesn't matter if I finish 20 cross stitches or 2. All that really matters is that I'm taking the time every day to make something, anything. The finished piece will fit in a 6" hoop when done on 14ct Aida. Download the PDF here - Free Pattern ... Read More
A Little Christmas Tree Quilting with Free Pattern
I made this little English paper pieced Christmas tree and had intended on making it into a wall hanging before posting it. However, it's becoming glaringly obvious that with the Christmas presents I'm working to finish up, that isn't going to happen in time for Christmas. So I figured I'd show off my work in progress. I'm planning on 2015 being the year I make a triangle quilt so I wanted to do a little test project before I dive in. The tree went pretty quickly and I love how it looks. I've never actually done any quilting before and I'm not entirely sure ... Read More

Free Pattern Friday – New York City Skyline
I created this pattern for a Christmas gift so I can't show off what I did with it yet. However, it worked out really well and I thought some of you might have use for a NYC skyline cross stitch pattern. It's very simple and you could customize it and use any colors you'd like. You also don't need to stitch the entire space, I just did the outline and it worked out really well! The finished piece is less than 9" wide and 4" tall when done on 14ct Aida. English Paper Pieced Candy Corn Pattern!
So this is going to be an early Free Pattern Friday, and it's a different kind of pattern! Instead of a cross stitch pattern, I made my first ever English paper piecing pattern. I'm posting it today instead of Friday because tomorrow will be the big link up of all the awesome Halloween projects that everyone made! Alicia from Felt With Love Designs organized a Halloween crafty tutorial link up. I did a Christmas one last year and a flower one this last spring so I was excited to take part. I am usually so bad about making projects based on a holiday or season, ... Read More
Free Pattern Friday – Origami Crane
When Josh and I got married I folded 1,000 paper cranes and used them as decorations at our reception. Ever since then, origami cranes have had a special place in my heart. I've been wanting to make a crane cross stitch pattern for a long time and finally sat down and did it! And it's my gift to you. Why not stitch 1,000? The finished crane is about 4x2 inches when done on 14ct.
