WIP Finish – Quilty Stitches Sampler

When I set the 2015 goal to finish some WIPs, I put together a list and set a loose goal to finish one project a month. These are separate from other projects I plan on starting in 2015, these are all ones I worked on and then abandoned before finishing them and have been sitting around for quite awhile. Here we are in February and I've finished my 3rd project! (You can see the other two here) This one was the Quilty Stitches sampler that I first posted about over a year ago! I had almost half of the blocks done and then I just kind of fizzled out. I found ... Read More

The Pi Project – My Submissions!

I first saw mention of the Pi Project on Mr. X Stitch and immediately knew I had to make something to send! I cross stitched the 1 on fabric using water soluble canvas. I actually am working on a water soluble canvas tutorial for the &Stitches two months of tutorials series, so I figured this project could kill two birds with one stone! After my first attempt at sashiko for TSNEM, I wanted to keep going with it! I didn't use the sashiko thread for this, just 6 strands of regular DMC floss. I simply outlined the font and made the line a dashed one ... Read More

WIP Finish! – Astronaut Cross Stitch

One of my 2015 goals is to finish some WIPs. I left it kind of open ended with no specific number, but when I went and made a list I realized just how many projects I have going on. I counted 15, but I'm sure there are a few others that I'm forgetting about. I set the loose goal of finishing one WIP a month, which I think is definitely realistic. I've already finished my first project of the year and I feel really silly that it was cast aside for so long. The last time I blogged about the Astronaut cross stitch flash card was in February of last year, so it's been ... Read More

A Secret Santa Swap – What I Sent

The amazing ladies at &stitches did a Secret Santa swap and I had the pleasure to make something for Nicole from Follow the White Bunny. I was really excited about the exchange but also very nervous because I didn't want to send a disappointing package! I knew I wanted to do something with cross stitching (it is a stitching blog after all!) but I also wanted to make something more than just a hoop to hang up. I went and picked out fabrics based on the colors that Nicole said she liked and I made a Flower POW Mug Rug from CraftyPod's pattern and a hexagon zipper ... Read More

Gifts I Made – New York Cross Stitches

My mother in law loves New York City, so last year I decided to make her a cross stitch of the Statue of Liberty for Christmas. I chose colors that were very similar and while I loved how it looked, I hated working on it and wasn't going to finish in time for Christmas. So I switched to a different gift idea and put it aside for a year. I revived the project and finished it for this Christmas. I ended up winging it because I had miscounted quite a few areas of the pattern. I'm really happy with how it turned out, I like it a lot. I also made another New York ... Read More

Free Pattern Friday – Make Something Every Day!

This month's first Friday really snuck up on me! Suddenly it's a new year and I need to make a pattern within the next day! But I have one for you, and I hope it'll be a good motivation for you this year! I set a lot of goals in regards to what I plan on creating this year, but really none of that is really important. It doesn't matter if I finish 20 cross stitches or 2. All that really matters is that I'm taking the time every day to make something, anything. The finished piece will fit in a 6" hoop when done on 14ct Aida. Download the PDF here - Free Pattern ... Read More
