Today is National Donut Day, so to celebrate I've made a donut cross stitch pattern! But not just any donut, a CAT DONUT! In Japanese they are called "doubutsu doonatsu" which translates to "animal donuts." You can read about them on Kotaku. So here you go, grab yourself a donut and stitch this up to celebrate National Donut Day! Now on Storenvy and a Coupon Code!
I've been wanting to start a shop at Storenvy for awhile now but haven't had the motivation to do it. A bunch of people I follow on Twitter use Storenvy and there seems to be a really great community around it. When I was writing my blog hop post on Monday I mentioned that I was working on getting motivated to open this shop up. I stopped writing and made an account right then. I've been adding my patterns there and I'm really pleased with it so far! I know there's a lot of features I'm not taking advantage of, but I definitely plan on playing with it more. Now, ... 30 for 30 Crafting
I craft for way more than 30 minutes a day, but I still feel like this #30for30crafting challenge that Jess from The Crafting Geek set up will be extremely beneficial for me. When talking about my creative process I mentioned losing momentum on projects and leaving them unfinished. This happens way more than I wish it did, so I'm going to use this challenge as an opportune to revive some of them. For at least 30 minutes a day I will set aside my current project and pick up one of these almost finished WIP. Evie's blanket I finished all the squares for this months ... Read More
Mira’s Birthday Party!
For Evie's first birthday party I made a ton of decorations and then was so busy setting up that I didn't get a chance to take any pictures. I was not going to let that happen this time around, so I got all the decorations up the night before Mira's party so I could get pictures of them all! For the decorations I used a lot of Benzie Design wool felt and a lot of bakers twine from the Twinery. The pinwheels came from Land of Nod, I didn't even realize they sold party supplies until I saw a post on their blog about it. So last weekend we went to Land of Nod ... Read More
A Different Kind of Blog Hop
Last week I was "tagged" by the lovely and talented Kirsty Neale to take part in a sort of blog hop. It's set up as a way for you to be introduced to new blogs, I'm going to answer some questions about myself and at the end I will tell you about three new blogs. Next Monday stop by to read about them! So let's get started with the questions! What are you working on? I have so, so many projects I'm in the middle of and a long to do list! Lately I haven't been cross stitching as much, I've been doing a lot more embroidery and other projects. Jess from The ... Read More
Book Review – New Tatting: Modern Lace Motifs and Projects
I have been curious about tatting, the art of creating lace by looping threads together with a tool called a shuttle, for some time now and as luck would have it, I was given the opportunity to review Tomoko Morimoto's new book, "New Tatting: Modern Lace Motifs and Projects". The book is simply gorgeous and all of the projects have a really fun and modern flair. With knowledge passed down from her mother (famous Japanese tatter Teiko Fujito,) Morimoto has taken the traditional craft in new and exciting directions. It should be mentioned that tatting is difficult! ... Read More
Mira is One!
I go back and forth between being amazed that Mira has already been around for a year and disbelieve that it's only been a year. Thinking back to her birth is still terrifying and shocking to think about how that all went down. And here we are a year later. Mira is turning into such a little person, she's so funny and strong willed. She puts up with a lot from her big sister but loves Evie so much anyways, it just melts my heart. When Evie comes into the room Mira lights up, she just wants to follow her everywhere. Mira isn't walking yet but she gets around fast. ... Read More
May TUSAL Update
I always love seeing the ORT jar growing, it tells a story of all the stitching I've been doing. There's a lot of thread from two cross stitch projects that I can't show off until they make their way to their new homes. One is headed to the UK for the &stitches swap and the other is going to a friend in Canada. There's also a lot of threads from basting hexagons. I have a pouch that I keep all my hexagon supplies in and I leave all my ORTs in there. It's a satisfying feeling to pull out a big tangle of thread and add it to the jar. I like that this jar is a ... Read More
