Book Review – Stitch the Halls

I received a copy of Stitch the Halls! by Sophie Simpson of What Delilah Did and it's lovely! I have had Sophie's first book, Storyland Cross Stitch: 15 Projects and a Free Gift for Your Stitching Pleasure, on my wish list since it came out but I haven't gotten it yet. After seeing Stitch the Halls, I might pull the trigger and finally get my copy! There are 12 holiday projects in Stitch the Halls and there is a great mix of more classic projects and more modern ones. The patterns are really well designed and so many of them can be used outside of Christmas ... Read More

Internet Friend Birthday Gifts!

I really love the internet, one reason is because I have met some amazing people online. Jess from CraftingGeek sent me a birthday gift, she made me this awesome Yoshi cross stitch using water soluble canvas. She also sent me some fabric scraps for my hexagon quilt and some DMC color infusions threads. Seriously, how awesome is that? Well Jess's birthday was shortly after mine and I just sent her a very, very late birthday gift. I think I found Jess on Instagram because of her progress on the Legend of Zelda Dark World map cross stitch, and it only seemed ... Read More

Ice Cream Pencil Case Swap – What I Sent

Last week I showed off the amazing package I got for the ice cream pencil case swap and now I can finally show what I sent! I sent a package to Julia all the way in Germany. She listed her favorite flavors as mint chocolate chip, chocolate, and vanilla. I really struggled to find fabric the right shade of mint, so many seemed too blue or too green. I found a few fabrics that fit the bill and I made some hexagons. I also used water soluble canvas to cross stitch little ice cream cones onto brown fabric. I decided to make it out of felt and got a chocolate ice ... Read More

Cross Stitched Name Hoops!

When I was pregnant with Evie I started posting on the September 2010 birth forums at TheBump and "met" a lot of other soon to be new moms. When our babies were all born we migrated to a Facebook group and almost four years later we are all still close. Ruth was one of the moms I met on TheBump and I actually got the chance to meet her in person. Her son Elijah is the same age as Evie and her daughter Ani is a little older than Mira. I have been meaning to send them a package full of handmade goodies for months but only got around to it last week. I've had the ... Read More

&Stitches Swap – What I Sent!

When I signed up for the &Stitches swap, I had no idea what I would do. The theme was "places" and I wasn't sure about doing a cross stitch of a specific location, I like to keep things more simple and stylized. I was thrilled to be paired up with Carina and she told me some places she likes, but none of them were really standing out to me. She had mentioned before that she was extremely interested in space and liked the alphabet I am working on. I decided that space counts for the theme and made a solar system pattern. I already have one pattern but I wanted to do ... Read More

Free Cross Stitch Patterns – Tsum Tsum

Last year I made a whole bunch of Tsum Tsum cross stitch patterns for a swap. I've been meaning to release the patterns for awhile and this week I got a message giving me the push to finally do it. (Please note: Affiliate links are indicated by an asterisk*) The finished Tsum Tsum is 2 'x 2.5" when stitched on 14 ct Aida. I used the DMC Water Soluble Cross Stitch Canvas* so I could stitch it on quilting cotton. Best Birthday Ever Swap, Part 2

For the Best Birthday Ever Swap, each person has 3 partners. We didn't start until April but split the year into different quarters. My first partner had a birthday in June and then my next quarter was the beginning of July. So I had a busy couple weeks, but now I'm done until the final birthday in October. When I got the partner information and saw Tsum Tsum listed, I immediately started designing cross stitch patterns. In case you've managed to completely avoid this phenomenon, Tsum Tsum is a game but also a series of plush toys of Disney characters. They are ... Read More

Free Pattern Friday – Mario and Luigi

I realized I never shared this pattern for Mario and Luigi that I did for the Nerds Craft It Better swap. I stitched this using Water Soluble Cross Stitch Canvas* on quilting cotton and made it into a pouch, but you could do anything with it! It's fairly small and stitches up quickly. It's 3" tall and about 6.75" wide. Download the PDF here – Free Pattern Friday - June 2015 There are more free patterns to download here, and patterns to purchase here at my Etsy.
